i like the design but its too long.. i think might got problem installing in normal atx casing..
*
It should be as long as gtx 280 and 4870x2, unless they managed to shorten it (it is using GDDR3, not GDDR5 like 4870x2 anyway, maybe hmm.gif ).

GTX 280 has the same length as 4870x2 and 4850x2 is probably of the same length as well. Standard casing... I doubt buyers of this card has standard casing. Go measure it first however tongue.gif .

This would be the world's 2nd fastest card(best case scenario). 3rd would be gtx 280~~ and the list goes on.

so later perhaps i believe we can see different coolers from different manufacturers.
*
And different card lengths, as each AIB is free to design their own PCB.

Anyway, the card looks awesome, I wonder why people hate it so much just because the bottom looks like intel's stock cooler. It runs on 42C idle, which is great.

wanna ask smtg, dis 4850X2 if use wif PCI-e 1.0 will drop how many % performance compare to PCI-e 2.0?
i play at 1280X1024 ressolution, with or without AA also can. i play games like lost planet, race driver:grid, need for speed series, juiced 2.i dun play crysis.

i'm using a 8800gt wif a P35 mobo. feel like wanna upgrade but scared my PCI-E 1.0 bottleneck dis 4850X2 by large margin.
*
Let's see... 10~20% performance loss if crossfire potential is shown to the max. PCI-E 1.0/1.1 DOES matter. We're talking about 2 GPUs through one slot here, so pci-e 1.0 x16 should be bottlenecking it.If I am right, one 4850 should consume the bandwidth of say.. pci-e 2.0 x6 or pci-e 1.0 x12. Hence, 4850x2 would need pci-e 2.0 x12 OR pci-e 1.1 x24(WHICH DOES NOT EXISTS).

pci-e 1.0 x16=pci-e 2.0 x8
pci-e 1.0 x32(IF it exists)=pci-e 2.0 x16... you get the picture.

If you don't get the picture, pci-e 2.0 has twice the bandwidth of pci-e 1.0.

pci-e 1.0 x16 might not bottleneck a 4850 but it sure would bottleneck a 4850x2.

However, rarely do people do reviews(or at least performance charts) regarding pci-e 1.1 and pci-e2.0. The one I found were on 4870x2 on pci-e 1.1 and pci-e 2.0 and that was the only one I found.

Well, the good thing is, you can be our lab rat then smile.gif . You'll need a new mobo eh?

i guess x2 is better than CF coz if CF sure got some bottlenecks.
*
What do you mean by bottleneck?? If you're talking about CPU bottleneck, you need the same amount of CPU power to power up a 4850x2 or a 4850 CF. It's the number of GPUs that matter, not the number of PCBs. If you're talking about bus link length... the difference is unnoticeable(dude the difference is just going to be 1 fps or something)

EDIT: Don't get mad at me if I say pci-e 1.0 and 1.1 interchangeably, the fact remains that pci-e 2.0 has twice the bandwidth of those two.

EDIT2:Hmm... I think we should be seeing pci-e 3.0 in 1 year's time?

Should I merge this thread with the HD4xxx discussion? Because I dont think there is a need for opening a HD4xxx x2 thread when there is already a thread discussing the HD4xxx series.
*
If you did merge the thread on R700 (4870x2) thread with the discussion, then I guess this is mergeable. However, we should bear in mind that there's an 8800gt thread out there, solely for 8800gt and 9800gt.. then again they are famous (r700 thread not so famous). Either this is merged or we create a 4850x2 discussion thread and merge it with that.

Anyway, this card is already out on the market(like everyone said). The reviews are there too. Try techpowerup(HOWEVER, they have a VERY strange result for COD4. COD4 is very xfire optimized(I checked using several websites), and beats gtx280 hands down, yet it doesn't, even the 4870x2 doesn't). Elitebastards should have the review for this too.

Overclocking looks good, they oc'ed it to 750+/1100+. http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Sapphir...4850_X2/29.html

Still, 70C on non stock cooler for load(people usually do 60C right?)? Doesn't sound too good. But then, this gpu can handle up to 90C anyway, so there is still a lot more headroom to try for 800+ core clock biggrin.gif

EDIT: I've found the reason why techpowerup's review is kind of unreliable. They're using P35, which uses PCI-e 1.0/1.1, which isn't a very good motherboard when it comes to 2 RV770 core on one PCB (and gtx 280 I suppose).

if u cf it will be cheaper bro...
1k+ only...
quite good...
1460+markup? = 1.5k+ keke

True. Do CF better, P45 is getting cheap. The only time you need 2x pci-e 2.0 x16 is when you SLI gtx280 or CFX 4870x2 ~_~. I thought this thing would be a gtx 280 killer, with low price and all. Looks like it isn't whistling.gif (oh well, it is made by sapphire, not by amd themselves).

Tempting for an upgrade.

4850X2 + Deneb Black Edition, on a Micro-ATX. laugh.gif

4850x2 is the longest graphic card ever made though(I'm not sure about the voodoo series(especially when SLIed), which is also pretty damn long) tongue.gif . I'm waiting for some other review site to review this card, sigh.

Source? Aren't all manufacturers allowed to build their 4850x2?

Yea, it's cheaper to just SLI oops, crossfire. P45 are getting cheaper these days.
