Tutorial on installing Garmin Mobile XT on our E63.

p/s: Nokia E63 doesn't have internal GPS receiver, thus you have to buy bluetooth GPS receiver in order to use GPS on your E63.

Require File :

  1. Garmin Mobile XT for Symbian S60 3rd Edition, Ver. 5.00.50
  2. Garmin Mobile XT Free Basemap, Ver. 4.xx.xx
  3. Garmin Mobile XT Support Files, Ver. 4.xx.xx
  4. Free Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand GPS Map

Phase 01 - Downloading the necessary files
Step 1 - Download to your computer the Garmin Mobile XT for Symbian S60 3rd/5th Edition
Step 2 - Download to your computer Garmin Mobile XT Free Basemap, Ver. 4.xx.xx
Step 3 - Download to your computer Garmin Mobile XT Support Files, Ver. 4.xx.xx
Step 4 - Download the latest malfreemaps (free Malaysia garmin map)

Phase 02 - Installing the applications
Step 5 - Connect your Nokia E63 (via mass storage) or memory disk to your computer and make sure it’s detected by your computer.
Step 6 - Now, run the recently downloaded files on the computer, one after another, in this order:
1. v4.xx.xxx Support File,
2. v4.xx.xxx Basemap File
3. GMXT v5.xx.xx
Step 8 - After that, go to Applications> run Garmin Mobile XT. It won’t connect to GPS satelite yet, so just ignore it.
Step 9 - You should have received your device unlock code from the manufacturer of Garmin, however if you haven’t, there are instructions on the Internet to guide you on how to get yours. *Google it yourself*
Step 10 - Copy the device unlock code and paste it in a notepad, then save the file as SW.UNL
Step 11 - Reconnect your via cable using mass storage.
Step 12 - Copy the SW.UNL file into \Garmin\ in your memory card
Step 13 - Then, run malfreemaps installer and copy gmapsupp.img into \Garmin\
Step 14 - Disconnect your phone from your computer.
Step 16 - Wait for satellite signal to strengthen and then you can start navigating around various places with confidence!

After installing the map files into your computer, you will be asked if you would wish to create a Garmin map for your Gamin device. Answering "Yes" will bring you to a wizard that will complete the map creation in a few simple steps. You can also opt to say "No" and upload MFM-Garmin map to your Garmin device via Mapsource.

1. Create MFM gmapsupp.img
2. Options
  - Exclude Colored Polygons (Less laggy) Good for Garmin Mobile XT
  - Include Miscellanous Business POI (Like Insurance campanys, and Others Company Name POIs)
  - Include Road POI (you can search road name under Points of Interest. This option may slow down your Mobile XT)
  - Include Chinese POI (POIs in Chinese Simplify 简体)
  - Enable custom icon for Nuvi 765, 1460, etc (for Garmin 765 and Garmin 1xxx series)
  - Full [Full Custom (the road display a bit different) + Custom Icon & Polygon (House & Shop in color)]
  - Custom Polygon & POI only [Dispaly custom Polygon (House & Shop in color) & POI Icon (Shell station will display in Shell Logo)]
  - Default (Original Garmin Display)
  - Large POI Icons (Display Large Icons in GPS Device)
3. Proceed to generate gmapsupp.img with above Options (Yes or No)
    Yes, then gmapsupp.img is created in "C:\Garmin\Malfreemaps" (you may copy this file to others unit/SD Card after installation)
4. MFM gmapsupp.img has been created. (Do u want to send this map to U unit/SD Card Now)
    If Yes, please select your Nuvi drive {"F:" or "G:"}. Map must save within the "Garmin" folder. For example, "F:\Garmin"
    Please wait until the "Process Completed" message is displayed before disconnecting your Nuvi or removing your SD card to avoid damage to your Nuvi or SD card.
