Affraid when formatted pc , all profile gone

i thought profile stored online

Hey you better back it up.... last time my pc suddenly hang while loading cod4, then the profile file corrupt then start back rank 0 again.... omg i almost wanna scream edi... haih

if the stats are stored client side, wont it mean that people can just use a level 55 profile as their own, or is there some sort of transfer restriction?

There are no transfer restriction except for CD-Key restriction which makes u can't use another people profile with different CD-Key registry as yours, but that one can be fixed though, that's why a lot of level 55 because of that

Anyway TS, just copy your folder name, and save it to your thumb drive, after u re-install it, then put it inside profile again. Make sure your CD-Key is the same as before, if not it won't be working.

Your profile is linked to your in game CDkey - which can be found in 2 ways

The easiest would be via Multiplayer Options under CDkey.

The second is using Regedit from your Run option from the windows start button.
In regedit, look for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE then click SOFTWARE then Activision.
In that directory, the CDKey will be displayed under the variable name "key" or something similar.

The reason why you would choose the second option is to add your CDKEY then profile instead of going into the game, putting in the key and restarting it again.

Backup requires both the Profile/Name folder and the CDKEy you run it with. You MUST have the same folder name or else it will not work .
