as mentioned above, I would like to ask, if I purchase an iphone and unlock it myself and bring it back to Malaysia,
is this iphone works 100% or it is fully compatible to work with any telco provider in Malaysia? let's say Maxis.
Have anyone bought and brought back to Malaysia?
I afraid it won't function perfectly in Malaysia.
Thanks for your time! rolleyes.gif

UK iphone 3G are locked. there is no official unlock from o2 UK so far.

The only way to unlock it so far is hardware unlock and it is not recommended as it might affect your telco signal/operation... (some forumer have a bad experience on this...)

This has been refraining from buying iphone in UK so far tongue.gif

If the iPhone3G is officially unlocked by Apple, it works. But if you unlock it with hardware, refer to my signature. If you planning to unlock it with software (which is coming soon by Dev-Team) i'm not sure but not recommended.

Once terbuka, everything also can masuk. Tht means once it is unlocked, no matter what SIM also can put in but must 3G SIM of course. smile.gif

The only way to unlock now is through

1. Hardware SIM- such as Turbo SIM
2. Buy hacker team Dev-Team -- Coming Soon... they have yet to successfully unlock iphone3G yet..They are still trying very hard.

Right, thanks for all the comment, what I mean by 'unlock it myself' is referring to sending it to any phone shops or any proz to unlock the 3G UK iphone for me...

So, this is not recommended for me?

ouh ok... so still use hardware rite? it is not recommended still... but if u think its the best.. then go on...

hardware unlock only causes trouble...

Uk don have officially unlocked iphone, but what do I mean is getting a locked 1 and unlock it and therefore bring it back to Msia.

just wondering whether would this works anot.... If this locked iphone would work perfectly in Msia once I unlock it, then I would consider to get one...

ya..that is the problem MIGHT have, see the luck..not all will get the problem(regard to ur signature link),
my friend using turbo sim so far so good...
Of course that is not the proper way, but there have no software unlock , so that is the way, unless use ur iPhone as iPod touch until the day come for software unlock.

Just a word of advise, most of them who using Turbo or whatsoever name by-pass sim, mostly, MOSTLY has diff problems. Either data, network lost, drop calls, no incoming calls, these and that. So official unlock is still most recommended. icon_rolleyes.gif

I read this article a few days ago,

Dev Team nearing iPhone 3G unlock?

Looks like it's coming soon...

Apple not allowing unlock ? So far Apple is not able to stop unlocking of iPhone 2G and also not able to prevent OS X to run on PC ( hackintosh ).
