It's just a poll for you to vote for the best netbook in the market.
In terms of features, Performance wise, After-sales service and so on.

Please stated clearly the reason why and how you make your choice.
It can be a very good review for members who wish to invest on their netbook.

Considering how must people around here give their "recommendations" TS's requirements would most probably be ignored. Most other sites, from my observation, when asked on what is the best, etc, they state why it's so good and the stories that comes with it that makes them think it's so good.

Whereas here, most people would just scream out the Brands, kinda hit and run. Not before long, someone would scream Fujitsu because his friend's uncle's, grandfather's grandniece ........said fujitsu is the best so he/she'd scream that Fujitsu is the best.

My point? Threads like this are all but pointless. Try run a poll on best notebook brand and you'd get Acer being the worst and Toshiba/Fujitsu being screamed as the best, more often than not.

Hi, since you felt that thread like this are all but pointless, any other BETTER way to let members to have better understanding on which netbook to go for.
I noticed that there are a lot of users feedback in THE WORST BRAND in Mobile computing section which i found it quite useful for someone who has no idea which brand to go for.
That's why I start a poll section on Netbook since it is a trend nowadays to have a smaller lappy with us.

hmm. foreign websites then? I mean, I wasn't specifically mentioning that other websites give better recommendations on netbooks, it was in general. Like if you go to engadget and look for the best router, you get proper feedbacks rather than people screaming the Brands out and then nothing.

Sorry to 'pour cold water' on you but from my observation, that's how most thread like these works. I too has no idea on where to get better info on netbooks. Perhaps notebookreview.com?

in terms of price vs functionality factor. I would say Dell Mini9 for sure, it's dxmn cheap compare to others.

toshiba's netbook will be brought in soon, be patient. smile.gif but still, dun expect the price to be as cheap as mini9.

Two contender coming, HP Mini Note refresh, temporary known as Mini 1000, and Dell Mini 1210

for the most budget in Malaysia is AAO and Dell Mini 910, where Dell has an edge over the Windows installed, but weird keyboard

There is no one that can fit all .. I bought Lenovo S10 because it has expresscard .. so I don't need to invest on another 3G modem. The appearance is IMHO, much sleeker and the look is much of those higher class machine.. Acer seems to much like a toy .. Dell looks a bit better than Acer, but with SSD, it is limiting the market .. I wonder how many of us could've live with such a tiny winny disk space .. there are too many bloatwares out there.. so.. 160GB is such a nice size to have.

poll like doesnt help buyer choosing the ideal netbook.
instead of blind voting, "if" possible justify too the reason why you getting the selected brand/product, pro and cons. and then ts might just update the information at the front thread.

Asus EEE PC - 1000H . Why ?

The best original netbooks are Asus EEE PC, the rests are clones of EEE PC.

Good argument no? .. if you're talking about netbook, then Asus EEEPC is not the original one .. netbook term coined quite a long time ago by Psion (1999). Asus started the netbook craze in end of 2007 .. by introducing quite a variant of low cost EEEPCs which really confused a lot of people in the market.

Who remembers a failure such as Psion ?

There is no History Book written to say who fail to invent cars, put Human beings on Moon , and who failed to write better softwares than Windows.

Who makes things popular is important !

acer aspire one got my vote.
why?
price damn cheap, design at least for me, its good,
why i'm not choosing dell?
design kinda weird, the extra bout dell is the warranty only.
actualy been worked at Dell factory in penang,
nothing special, just after sales service is better compare to other.

but why I still choose Acer?
maybe, love at first sight.

If talking design wise, HP is the better netbook manufacturer. Just look at Mini Note and the upcoming Mini 1000. I'm a poser so I like my gadgets sleek so HP gets my vote.

Hi bro,
all netbook nowadays comes with Window XP preloaded unless it stated free dos.
Yeap, dell is cheap, but do you realize that the internal memory only 8GB SSD ? You can't do much with the 8GB unless you are using it just for very basic use.

The reason why you having hard time to install window via USB thumbdrive is because the AAO comes with Window Linux, so it doesn't mean Dell is good JUST because of the window XP already preloaded. It applies on all other netbook as well.

Em, may i know how you define established names in Msia ?
With great advertising going on ? Or ?
Most of the product, as long as they can provide you a local manufacturer warranty.
You stil can be able to find back the parts within 10 years after your purchased.
*But for sure it take some times to get it *

The ExpressCard slot gives you the option of adding more USB ports, Firewire, eSATA, or any number of other ports to the S10. More importantly, the ExpressCard slot makes it easy to add a broadband modem to the S10.

Second, the S10 has built-in Bluetooth.

Easy to upgrade RAM, and hard drive. (Some of the netbooks require complex disassembly in order for you to get to the storage drive, system RAM, or wireless cards)

Em, i never know that expresscard slot can enable us to adding more ports, firewire and eSATA hmm.gif
How much it will cost then ?
Well, most of the broadband modem uses USB slot instead of Expresscard slot nowadays... Well, this would be a credit for S10.

So far only S10 has built-in bluetooth among all netbook ? I noticed that Eee pc1000 having it as well.

Well, easy to upgrade RAM and hard drive ? That's funny biggrin.gif
Nowadays for all new models, all RAM and hard drive are easy to upgrade, totally different with last time.
Just open the cover, then you can see where is the Ram and the HDD.
If you can able to give some comparison between other model, it would be better since you just stated some of the netbooks.

Please correct me if im wrong.

Currently, there is no particular netbook that really stands out although Asus appears to be the brand of choice. The ideal netbook should have a spacious keyboard (like HP 2133), six-cell battery, a 10-inch screen and a 160GB HDD. Otherwise, a sub-1.8kg 12-inch notebook for about RM2,500 is still a better buy.

Consumers like you and me will be spoilt for choice with the new line-up of netbooks in the coming months plus a price tag that has a real wow factor. And by then, we will ask ourselves - why are we paying more than RM1,500 for a perceived premium mobile phone or PDA phone?

Mobile phone operators, by then, will have to go the extra mile to win customers with contract phone packages like our counterparts in other countries are enjoying.

my vote goes to dell, partly because im one of the proud owner of it. yeah, 8gb maybe bother to some people, but hey, this is netbook. it doesnt need big storage. it doesnt need powderful processing power. it just need something that can make it durable. and because the price is one of the cheapest netbook, dell is the best for me. with extra bluetooth and webcam, damn, i wonder if there any other netbook can get this cheap price.

Lol, I have found one netbook which can fulfil ur requirement.
Eee PC 701 selling at RM 599 on previous IKANO promotion.
Small SSD, Moderate processing power, comes with linux but able to put in Window XP because the XP drivers is included, durable, integrated with wifi, 3 USB ports, VGA output and card reader =)
The only thing that it doesn't comes with is Bluetooth, but my solution would be You pay another RM15 to get a external bluetooth adapter =)

Total up will cost you RM614.
Cheaper than your dell =)

If not promotion, it will cost RM799 + RM 15 = RM 814 =D

You stil can be able to find back the parts within 10 years after your purchased.
*But for sure it take some times to get it *
Mind to share the features that you find it useful ?
2 USB slot ? 3 cells batteries ?
*
8gb is plentiful lah, on a netbook unless u start downloading helluva illegal torrents.
Last time the hassle of finding a suitable battery for my fren's asus 2yr old laptop makes me not gonna consider it at all
Acer, as i heard is overzealous with warranty stickers over the ram, hdd, etc. - out of consideration
Dell was able to get me a battery for a P3 inspiron after many years easily

Lol, I have found one netbook which can fulfil ur requirement.
Eee PC 701 selling at RM 599 on previous IKANO promotion.
Small SSD, Moderate processing power, comes with linux but able to put in Window XP because the XP drivers is included, durable, integrated with wifi, 3 USB ports, VGA output and card reader =)
The only thing that it doesn't comes with is Bluetooth, but my solution would be You pay another RM15 to get a external bluetooth adapter =)

Total up will cost you RM614.
Cheaper than your dell =)

If not promotion, it will cost RM799 + RM 15 = RM 814 =D

when offer worth it for rm 599....if not not that worth it....

Well, hp mini using VIA processor.
Not intel.
In terms of ventilation, it's quite bad.
What make you chosed hp mini ?
Your choice.

ya i know its using VIA but who cares.. its a secondary notebook for surfing, music n stuff like that. but the design is damn nice.. in terms of ventilation i think this is the best of all netbook since the whole chasis is made of aluminium its like a big chunky heatsink hence spread heat faster than any others. though bad is u can feel the heat. btw i dont own a mininote. smile.gif

Lol, please refer back to what you've typed previously.

" in terms of ventilation i think this is the best of all netbook since the whole chasis is made of aluminium its like a big chunky heatsink hence spread heat faster than any others. though bad is u can feel the heat. "

What is it supposed to mean ?
Good ventilation but you stil can feel the heat ? xD

Added on November 28, 2008, 2:45 pmEm, Best Ventilation system among all the netbook ? I doubt that =D
