Broken Crescent – Medieval 2 Total War Mod
Short Impression Broken Crescent is a mod that was started by a bunch of dudes from total war center that thought the vanilla Medieval 2 Total War representations of eastern factions was too generic. They went on to create this mod that reskinned a lot of the eastern middle eastern factions. They also added many new factions that were more realistic and represented the diversity of the region better. The map spans the entire middle east and extends a bit more to the east and west past Constantinople and includes part of North Western India and the Hindu Kush mountains(Afghan region). Includes many new factions such as the Rajputs(Indian faction) and Islamic factions such as the Abbasid caliphate and many more. It also has Christian and Pagan factions. All the new factions add a lot of personality to this mod making it much more realistic and more culturally diverse. The skinning work on the models are very impressive with very beautiful details on shields such as Arabic writings etc. Some models have been brought over from Rome such as the models for elephants that may not seem as nice as the other models. A lot of variety in units designs too make this one of the biggest total conversion projects ever(not kidding). The project team has also saw it fit to bring new music into the mod with some from Medieval Total War and even Shogun. A lot of these music are considered to be classic and are much welcomed. It really is a pleasant surprise to listen to them again. The campaign is a much slower and tougher experience with factions starting with either weak positions or with strong neighbors. A lot of AI tweaks from Darth Mod has been brought over. The battle and unit DPS has been minimized making for much longer battles. Fatigue levels have also been tweaked making units tire more significantly as they move around. These tweaks force you to think more strategically about your movement and give you a more general feel of the battle. Your decisions will really have a huge impact on the battle. Think carefully about your next move. Overall this is one of my most favourite mods for a Total War game. It adds so much depth and personality to the game. The modders have taken a very long time to deliver this amazing piece of work. A must for Total War fans. I rate this as a great mod. This post has been edited by frags: Oct 26 2008, 07:58 PM |

Oblivion
Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch : Fixes glitches in Shivering Isles that the official patches don’t. DarkUI : Makes the User Interface far more efficient and aesthetically appealing. Also makes it dark so you aren’t blinded by menus, especially with HDR on. Qarl’s Texture Pack 3 Redimized : Reduced and optimized version of the best hi-res texture pack. Deadly Reflex : Adds new combat moves that both the player and NPCs use, including shield bashing, punching (with the hilt of the weapon), dodging, flipping, mounted combat, elemental effects, even balanced decapitation, skull crushing, lung piercing, and slicing in half, and more. FCOM (Francesco's + WarCry + OOO + MMM) : Allows the best and largest four overhaul mods to work with each other any many other otherwise incompatible mods. It combines the best aspects of each, creating a balanced, integrated, and vastly improves gameworld. Francesco’s Leveled Creatures/Items : Rebalances the game to be more static and adds items and creatures. Martigen’s Monster Mod : Adds new creatures and NPCs, advanced AI, wounding effects, and more. Oscuro’s Oblivion Overhaul : Drastically rebalances pretty much everything in the game to create a complete, consistent, balanced, static, and totally awesome gameworld. Adds so much stuff and changes things so much for the better that I’ll just leave it at that instead of attempting to summarize it all. Streamline : Increases performance by clearing memory buffers intelligently and safely. Also allows you to specify your desired FPS and graphics, and it constantly makes adjustments to graphical settings to accommodate them. Also includes many more incredible features you should check out. Midas Magic for OOO : Adds a ridiculous amount of new spells that are attained in new ways. Oblivion Mod Manager : Makes installing and uninstalling mods easier. Let’s you clean mods, check conflicts, registers new bsa files (makes new graphics work properly), and does other things. I never install a mod without it. Oblivion Script Extender : Makes new things possible in modding, so it is necessary for some of the greatest mods out there. No performance loss from using it. Oblivion Script Optimization : Optimizes in-game scripts to improve performance. Operation Optimization : Greatly improves performance by optimizing meshes, with no quality loss. Reneer's Guard Overhaul : Improves guard behavior to be more realistic, most notably making them no longer instantly appear when you commit a crime. NPCs can be arrested. Each city has its own crime gold. Tons more features. Stealth Overhaul : Makes stealth more realistic and balanced. Coloured Enemy Health Bars : Colors enemy health bars based on the proportion of their health remaining. Fallout 3 Fallout 3 Balance Overhaul : The mods re-balance the game, slow leveling, moderately increase difficulty, and enrich the game with greater depth and tactics, as well as provide a more meaningful character-building process. Fallout 3 Mods Library : The topic tells everything This post has been edited by Amedion: Nov 24 2008, 08:46 PM |
