Should be the same power.......
However, you will have problems playing some games here, as they are region locked. Australia Xbox360s are hard coded for PAL and we in Malaysia get our games in the NTSC/J Flavor. |

no need, australia is also using 220~240v like malaysia. just get a socket adapter so that the power plug fits, or steal a PC's power cable

I also have a question on this issue.
I have a X360 from U.S. I'm not sure if I can use it in M'sia. On the adaptor, it says "AC 120 50Hz". Would this be a problem in M'sia? If so, can I just buy a power adapter in M'sia & connect it to my X360? |

QUOTE he's suggesting another xbox 360 power adapter, which supports 220~240v. u can't actually buy the original adapter unless it's 2nd hand or something like that. try the pasar malam thread, i'm sure there's someone there selling a used adapter. |

Added on November 2, 2008, 5:24 amhello? i got a japanese 360. yes, the frequency must be the same, check your equipment power requirement. US is 110v 50Hz but Japan standard is 100 50Hz (eastern japan) and 60Hz (western japan) so my 360 adapter could handle both frequencies. like i said, check ur 360 adapter and HT power requirements. my stepdown has 3 outputs... 100v, 110v & 220v. used both 100v and 110v for 360 and Wii before, no problem. It depends on which equipment. Like my Samsun 226BW monitor has built in adaptor 110v-240v, so this shouldn't be a problem in M'sia. But my speakers are running on 12v 50Hz. Does your step down has the adjustment setting for the frequency? What's the frequency for anyways, don't really get it? You said you got your step down converter for ~RM80 right? |

Kinda waited for someone to reply me. sorry i got mixed up with the Hz back there, US is 120v 60Hz, not 50Hz as i stated. your speaker is 120v 50Hz? that's quite rare, where did u get it from? japan? It depends on which equipment. Like my Samsun 226BW monitor has built in adaptor 110v-240v, so this shouldn't be a problem in M'sia. But my speakers are running on 12v 50Hz. You said you got your step down converter for ~RM80 right? most stepdown don't allow u to change the phase shift frequency (i know mine doesn't), it's usually 60Hz for 100-120v and 50Hz for 220-240v. i got the stepdown together with my 360 as a package, but i remember the shop guy saying it costs around rm80. it's a Teletron 500W btw. |

Maybe I mix up. I need to look behind my speakers again. I bought it in U.S. Still using it now. But I'm thinking of whether to ship it back next year or sell it on ebay & get a Logi Z5500.
Will check on the frequency & post again. This post has been edited by P.I.M.P: Nov 5 2008, 03:13 PM |

But I'm thinking of whether to ship it back next year or sell it on ebay & get a Logi Z5500. Frequencies are various. In Japan there are 2 ratings depending on where you are, 110V either 50Hz or 60Hz. Most all equip supports both frequencies in Japan. Will check on the frequency & post again. Step downs are indeed a good solution, but they eat up a lot of power and an adapter is indeed a better option. But since you have a home theater as well, maybe you should invest on a step down powerful enough to plug in your 360 and your home theater. Make sure to check the power ratings though. 360 is around 200 Watts + Home theater power rating. Look for a step down with a higher rating then that and you should be ok. Also, don't forget to get an multiple socket extension from there, some step downs only have one socket and finding one here will be a headache. |

What about the adapter? How do I know if the stepdown is powerful enough for my system? Multiple socket as in I can plug in 2 appliance into 1 step down adapter?
