Visit these websites from time to time.

www.fatwallet.com
www.dealsea.com
www.dealnews.com

Sometimes you can find really good deals there. But I think you usually have to pay extra shipping since you are in Alaska. laugh.gif

Since most Americans dont change new phone as frequent as Asians and Europeans, most cellphone makers dont really care about the US market. Somemore most of the time you will have to sign a contract to get a cheap phone. Unlocked phones are so freaking expensive.. sweat.gif

I think the transit without visa program in US has been suspended. So you might need a C-1 visa to enter US. I personally have only entered through LAX and SFO but from what I can see, everyone goes through the immigration when they landed.

So CSG you might want to check with your travel agent.

i think you can easily get VISA in canada. my friend is studying in usa and a visa to canada cost him 80usd. i dont know how much does canada charges though. still it's doable smile.gif

Yeah, if your friend goes to school in US it's not too hard to get a Canadian visitor visa. Just have to go to Canadian consulate early in the morning and you could get the visa at the same day. But CSG is going to study in Canada and wishes to apply for a US visa, so that's a completely different story. My friend was in Canada a few years back ( 2 years after 9/11 ) and he told me it was so hard to apply for US visitor visa from Canada. But I am pretty sure things have changed.

u get there easier... coz u got a reason to return... u get in msia makes it look weird... u might get rejected

make sure ur city in canada can do d visa thingie 1st lor

From what I heard, it is still the easiest to apply for US visa from your home country. At least it doesn't take that long for them to figure out your identity. Or they might give you a single entry visa instead of multiple entry if you apply in foreign land. And you might have to wait longer for the visa to be approved.

A big family group of us are planning to travel to USA next year to attend a wedding.  But Im lost in trying to find out more visa application information from the above site. Can anyone help me on this please?

1) What is the requirement of applying visa?

2) Is it better to apply in KL or HK? I heard in HK it is simplier and easier, but it costs around HK$1100 for applicationi.

3) Is there a rule that single lady would usually fail in application? even thou she has letter to proof of her employment in Msia and with $ in bank account?

4) what is the requirement of having how much saving in bank account?

5) What are the procedures to apply visa? Since we dont live in KL, it is going to be a difficult for us cos we need to bring the whole family for a trip to KL first.

6) I heard there are interviews with appointment, is it possible that we make it on the same day so that everyone get interviewed on the same day? Cos we have elders and young babies... it is really going to be very messy sad.gif

7) how long would it take to know the result?

8) how to collect the visa? within the day or few days later? Do we have to go in person again? Imagine the family traveling to gether in KL, preferbly if some go back hometown first, one adult stay back to collect them all, etc.

9) how long is the validity? I heard once approved, it is a 10 year visa? So i can have my first entry anytime within next ten years?

Any of your opinions/sharings will be very much appreciated! Or kindly direct me to continue seeking else where.  Many Thanks!

1. Visit https://www.vfs-usa-my.com/

2. It is always simpler to apply for visa in your home country. And if not mistaken you pay the fee in USD and I believe its the same no matter where you go.

6. All interviews are with appointment only. You only need one interview letter per family, but you have to find out their definition of family. From https://www.vfs-usa-my.com/ApplnForms/faqs.aspx#15:

Children 13 and under do not need to appear in person. However, if the child is not present, only the parent or legal guardian of a minor child can apply for a tourist visa on behalf of that child. Parents or legal guardians must provide proof of relationship or legal guardianship status such as an original birth certificate or other court documents. Please note that applicants for student visas (F, M and J) who are 13 and under must be interviewed.

I personally would never go to a private/commercial website, always go to the official US embassy website. You never know what sort of data they're keeping about you. I know the CIA is probably keeping data about me but why the hell should another company be doing so biggrin.gif

The official website is http://malaysia.usembassy.gov/

Good call! I never realized that this was a private website.

Hi, I'll be traveling to USA in a few days . I just have some concerns about stuffs that I can and can’t bring with me and if I could bring them, are there any special packaging rules that I need to adhere to. The stuffs I have in mind are:

1. Perfumes (already used)
2. Gillette razor shaver
3. Shaving cream
4. Seretide Accuhaler for my asthma
5. Ventolin Evohaler, also for my asthma
6. Hair gel
7. Cigarettes, brand name Sempoerna
*
Do you plan to bring these with your carry-on or check-in luggage? I believe everything you listed here can be put into check-in luggage except shaving cream ( depends if it's flammable ).

For carry-on, 4,5 and 7 should not be a problem.
As for 1,2, 3 and 6 refer to http://www.tsa.gov/311/ and http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/pro...ited-items.shtm.

Hope that helps.

can i know how much i would need to spend in US(LA and NY)?

2 weeks excluding airline

still deciding whether to go US or japan

You can probably cover LA, San Diego and Vegas in a week and NYC for another week. Accommodation is usually about $65-$100 per night for 2-stars hotel in California. Rooms in NYC might be more expensive unless you want to stay in hostel.

A full meal is around $12-$20 bucks, fast food costs about $5.

Car rental in SoCal is about $200-$300 per week excluding insurance. Gas price is about $4 a gallon now.

Entrance fees for Disneyland, Universal Studios and other attractions in NYC will probably costs you $300-$500.
