hey guys/gals,

do any of you applied for USA working visa before?may i know how is the process, how long will it take to get approved, what are the must-have documents to ensure smooth approval? i have business visa from my previous company for business trip. will that be of help?

Define working visa. L1, H1B? There's quite an extensive thread on the jobs & carrier segment on working visas.

If you have an existing B1/B2 visa that was applied via your previous job, you can still re-use that visa to enter the US for the new company's working trip. However bear in mind the considerations of the B1/B2 visa, you're not supposed to 'work'

what i mean is i want to go USA to work legally and permanently. There are many types of working visa which I am not sure which I have to apply for. I am from engineering background with 5 years working experience. problem is i find it very hard to get employed by any USA employer because I have tried it before few years ago. They won't even reply anything. To make things worse, I know I need to get confirmation of employment in USA first before I can get working visa. That is provided the company is willing to help to apply and file petition for Alien workers. I just need someone who has done it before to guide me and help to find any job for me to settle down and able to survive first then only actively seek for jobs of my profession.

I think you already roughly know the visa steps involved. My advise is good luck.

Based on your description your only hope would be the green card lottery. Highly unlikely a company will be willing to hire anyone even if they're in the US available for an interview without legal presence status.

Just wondering, is there any thread for furumers working in the states permanently as greencard holders?

There's one in the 'Jobs & Career' section, but the thread has been inactive for some time already.

If you do a search for USA there you should be able to find it

Hi guys,

Wanna ask a help from all of u guys..

i will be at Chicago this Nov and i would like to do backpacking from there to NY..

How long it will take to get to NY? place to stay? transportation? budget?

Planning only a week to do that.. is it possible?

pls help me....

Unless you fly I don't see the point of doing a Chicago-NY trip under a week by land. There's prob buses and trains you could use but that would take about 2 days each way.
