hey guys, does anyone of you know how much an omega speedy pro or PO will go for in msia(including discounts)? Just wondering as I'm interested in getting my first swiss watch and I'm not sure it'll be cheaper in msia or in australia. Thanks in advance for any feedback!
*
Hello there, Speedy Pro MSRP is about RM11k++ and PO about RM12k++, discount rate normally from 10% - 20% here. Am not sure about the price difference between M'sia and Australia but the watches here is duty free.

My Speedy Pro says hi biggrin.gif

alrighty ck77, thanks for the swift reply. Factoring in a 20% discount, even with them watches being duty free, the best is only 8.8k for speedy and 9.6k for PO in msia? If that's the case i'll use that info as a yardstick for comparison but in any case I still have plenty of time to shop around since i think i read on watchuseek about some guy who got 32-35% off where i'm at(still waiting for the AD's contacts), and if i buy it before i go back to msia for a holiday i'll get a further 9% on top of the discounted price as a tax refund.

just trying my luck here but do you happen to know the price of a tag link auto chrono and the oris tt3 black chrono? these 2 in addition to the 2 omegas are on my shortlist. not sure whether i should proceed with the dream of owning one of these swissmade badboys though =/
*
The Tag Link and Oris TT3 no doubt are good watches, however, IMHO, Omega Speed Pro definately is in different league. In view of its long history and the connection with NASA, its arguably the most tested and robust chronograph in the world horology.

Am not a golfer myself, but most of the automatic sport series are able to withstand heat and vibration during sport activities. i.e. Tag Carrera, Ebel 1911, Omega PO etc.

Maybe some experienced golfer would like to share their views.

I dont really fancy with oris frank sinatra..just happened that i found this limited edition and start thinking whether should i buy and keep since it a limited edition. Is Oris is a good brand to put ur money into? i am a novice in watch collecting world. thank to my old dad's watch omega constellatons piepan that had enlightened me in this watch thingy!
*
Oris is a very decent entry level Swiss watch brand. You won't go wrong with it. Don't look at investment perpesctive, most important is buy whichever that speak to you heart. Watch is meant to be worn and not keep in the watchbox and hope for it to appreciate tongue.gif

Good luck and do show us when you bought it thumbup.gif

how you guys think of this BALL DIVER TMT limited edition model.

the BALL price is somewhat RM10k after discount.

another targeted watch is Maurice Lacroix Pontos GMT Decentrique

the ML price is RM13300 after 28% discount.

im stuck in between these two options  blush.gif
*
Follow your heart bro tongue.gif
But my vote go to Ball. Nice design, patented technology (3H gas tubes) that last 25 years, clearly visible all night long brows.gif

i checked out the www.redarmywatches.com.... and find it quite interesting...

I am very interested in the Junkers Horizon (orange colour).... which looks like a
bell & ross instrument BR01..... the list price is S $ 1,3xx.... so..in RM...should
be RM2,6xx.... do you think is value buy ?? always like the classic look of the
BR01... but I guess it cost more than RM10K...which is way beyond my budget
!
*
Junkers, German watch. Don't know much of the info. Worth it or not, as long as you like it, is worth.
But with RM2.6k, you could get some decent Swiss made auto watches. i.e. Ball, Fortis, Oris, Tissot, Mido ... etc
Just my RM0.02 tongue.gif

p/s: and one more thing, make sure they have service center in Malaysia nod.gif

How to know whether the price quoted is good or not for a second hand watch? Advise us sifu  notworthy.gif
*
Hmm ... there is no correct or right price on second-hand watches. All depend on willing buyer, willing seller. Try doing more research on sales forum, website to do some comparison.

My experience, bought a second-hand Oris at Lelong for RM1k. Few months later, sold it at Ebay for RM1.8k rclxms.gif

yeap...the price u need to do some research abit le. Use the actual release sales price as a guide... then, estimate the depreciation of the watch. see the condition, year of manufacture, brand, type, batch, how long in the previous owner's possession, service records, completeness of documentations@certificate and box condition  laugh.gif non are specific le...some can even rise 2-3times than actual sales price, some used watches may have best buy pricetag as the tauke so kind hearted to get rid of it from the display case(perhaps he hit a big lottery or good sales for the month)  tongue.gif . See the demand market le... tongue.gif In short, it's pure luck n connection with the used watch shop tauke... brows.gif oh...and lots of $$$$ also le... biggrin.gif

A question to all luxury watch owners, do u guys/girls wear your luxury watch for daily use or just for certain occasions?

My concern here is more about the environment of wearing such watches, it could attract thieves.
*
I rotate my watches frequently and I think thieves are only attracted by gold Rolex watch which I don't have one tongue.gif

It is better to buy insurance to cover for your valuable items for a peace of mind. However, most of the insurers are not willing to accept it due to the high risks in nature.

If you already have the Householders/Houseowners insurance, negotiate with the insurer to extend to cover jewellery, watches, laptops, handphone into "All Risks" insurance. The rate and deductible is varies from insurers to insurers.

Guys, better be safe than sorry. smile.gif

Hi i don't own any high end watches, but am interested in them. Anyway since you guys bought up criminals targetting these watches. Don't forget the cases of chopped off hands just for some rolex. If they break in big houses they would target these watches. Also a trend where there are these foreigners selling fake watches that they pass off as stolen goods. And sometimes there are real ones, but usually they approach single entrepreneurs for a quick sale. Please if it is real or not don't buy from them. But if i were to own such watch i would not wear them, simply i find them fragile. I would be better off with a CASIO or something. hehehe.

BTW 2 years ago i went to this Sincere watch event at KLCC convention center. I wonder if anyone went to that event? I registered for GP watch appreciation session where they showcase their watches, how it is made and they flew in some watchmakers for demo. I didn't get a place for the watch making session though. That was booked solid early on.
*
Well, all watches regardless of their selling price, Omega, Rolex, JLC, VC, PP etc, is just a wristwatch. They may be nice to look, well designed watches but the only purpose, to tell time.

Yes I do own G-Shock, the cheapest of them all, it does more than telling time, i.e. functions like multiple alarms, stopwatch, countdown timer, perpetual calendar. Han dphone, MP3, PDA does tell time too. flex.gif

However, I do admire the marvellous engineering perspective in automatic/manual movement watches. I can’t imagine a small tiny piece of machine can run/wind by its own. If nicely taken care of, it can pass down generation to generation.

It all boils down to interest and preference. Someone might own a Mercedes, but I drive a Honda, it brings me to point A to point B as well. icon_rolleyes.gif

Just my RM0.02 tongue.gif
