Hi i don't own any high end watches, but am interested in them. Anyway since you guys bought up criminals targetting these watches. Don't forget the cases of chopped off hands just for some rolex. If they break in big houses they would target these watches. Also a trend where there are these foreigners selling fake watches that they pass off as stolen goods. And sometimes there are real ones, but usually they approach single entrepreneurs for a quick sale. Please if it is real or not don't buy from them. But if i were to own such watch i would not wear them, simply i find them fragile. I would be better off with a CASIO or something. hehehe.
BTW 2 years ago i went to this Sincere watch event at KLCC convention center. I wonder if anyone went to that event? I registered for GP watch appreciation session where they showcase their watches, how it is made and they flew in some watchmakers for demo. I didn't get a place for the watch making session though. That was booked solid early on.
Well, all watches regardless of their selling price, Omega, Rolex, JLC, VC, PP etc, is just a wristwatch. They may be nice to look, well designed watches but the only purpose, to tell time.
Yes I do own G-Shock, the cheapest of them all, it does more than telling time, i.e. functions like multiple alarms, stopwatch, countdown timer, perpetual calendar. Han dphone, MP3, PDA does tell time too.
However, I do admire the marvellous engineering perspective in automatic/manual movement watches. I can’t imagine a small tiny piece of machine can run/wind by its own. If nicely taken care of, it can pass down generation to generation.
It all boils down to interest and preference. Someone might own a Mercedes, but I drive a Honda, it brings me to point A to point B as well.
