Chery Eastar MPV owner here, Sapphire Silver. Will be taking my car end of next week (hopefully). Can't wait... rclxm9.gif

Hey teikseng, did you test drive the car? I tell you, once you tried the power of it's Mitsubishi 4G64 2.4L engine, and the super easy handling and turning ratio, you'll fall in love with this MPV. One finger turning man with full load (7 people on board)... syok man!! thumbup.gif

Low profile and stylish with LED lights in the rear, good looks and comfortable ride compare to Avanza, Rush or Innova.

Review

Just do allignment yesterday ( still not satisfied ) ....still  a bit running left ......will go again to Sri Muda.....during high speed at 160KMH ....this Chery MPV is stable even at Sungai Buluh corner heading to KL at 140KMH ..........I'm also not believe it ....but.....believet IT !!!! stunning !!! Try at your own risk ya....

But from 130 - 160 KMH ....a bit heavy .....takes some time and skill ( using normal auto ) ...if potong biasa .....just tekan the pedal ......it works ....smoothly .....

On the suspension overall performance is ok ( compare to avanza / innova / naz ria ) ....but if choose 17 or 18 inch rim .....might be helpful in traction and grip ( wider tyre ) might be needed ....compare to the std rim and tyre....

I prefer an aftermarket adjustable absorber or larger rim to counter the gap between the arch especially at the back .....will find an aftermarket absorber once the std worn out .....
Hey bro,

You are too technical lar. I just want a value-for-money MPV and after evaluating Citra, Avanza, Rush, Livina, I found Chery Eastar to be the best buy, mainly because of it's powerful Mitsubishi 2.4L engine. Now that I'm in the club, and you keep harping about mod this mod that, I'm interested to learn more.

So please PM me with your tel and I belanja u tea then call u Sifu. notworthy.gif

Will be doing some mod as soon as I finished installing Raytech tinting and leather seats next Friday (hopefully). BTW, which do you recommend: Raytech Armor or Raytech V90? See here: http://www.raytech.com.my/range.html V-Kool is out of my budget.

I propose to appoint you as President of the Chery Eastar MPV Club. Should we inform Chery Alado about this? I know you are close to PJ HQ people while I know their KL branch people. Get them to endorse us and bring us more members. The we can do touring together, share ideas to soup up the MPV and even nego for freebies, discounts etc. icon_idea.gif

Dynasan & Tanos, wru guys? C'mon, join the club! PM me or Enigma.

anyway, im interested in how inferior this chery mpv is.. so im ok in this thread i guess  blush.gif
yeah, i havent see the real car and have no intention to do so.. but judging from other people reply and ur reply, i think this sux nod.gif
capital letter so what laugh.gif
Yo Dude, post all you like but have some respect please... Why respect? This thread is started by Chery lovers and hence it's meant for Chery owners and those interested in it. icon_idea.gif

To come here and criticise and calling it inferior without facts is not beneficial nor respectful, and hardly qualify as interest. It's like someone saying you have a "slutty" wife/gf without even knowing her When asked to stop, that person said, I will continue because it's my interest to talk about how "slutty" your wife/gf is... doh.gif
(no offense intended, but if you feel offended, then I guess u probably understood how we the Chery owners or lovers felt by your statements and presence here). Hope you see the huge difference between flaming and sharing...

Now emotions aside, why Chery Eastar? Coming from a person who have seen/compared and test drove Avanza, Grand Livina, Rush, Citra and Rondo (all below RM90k MPV). Innova is out because it's above RM100k, guzzle petrol like mad (have friends who own it) and looks like a van.

I was skeptical of China cars too before I went to see the Chery. But what I saw (and tested) blown me away.
See my review here: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/803752/+20
and

My comparison:

CHERY EASTAR rclxms.gif
Engine: Mitsubishi 2.4L SOHC 16V
Max Power: 95kw@5500rpm
Max Torque: 198Nm@3000rpm (the best compare to others!!) thumbup.gif
Min Turning Radius: 6m

TOYOTA AVANZA
Engine: Toyota 1.5 DOHC 16V
Max Power: 80kw@6000rpm
Max Torque: 141Nm@4400rpm
Min Turning Radius: 4.7m

TOYOTA RUSH
Engine: Toyota 1.5 DOHC 16V
Max Power: 80kw@6000rpm
Max Torque: 141Nm@4400rpm
Min Turning Radius: 5.2m

NISSAN GRAND LIVINA
Engine: Nissan 1.8L DOHC 16V
Max Power: 93kw@5200rpm
Max Torque: 174Nm@4800rpm
Min Turning Radius: 5.2m

For what I'm paying, I'm getting: thumbup.gif

1. Nice elegant look, esp the beautiful LED rear lights.
2. Good features you can only find in higher price MPV: Dual Airbags, ABS, EBD, Steptronic (auto & manual transmission), Mitsubishi 2.4L engine, 16" alloy wheel, CD + MP3 player with USB, Dual Tone Horn.
3. Good petrol consumption from the feedbacks here, RM100 for 450km.
4. Sleeker than Avanza/Innova/Serena but roomier than Avanza/Grand Livina/Rush/Citra/Rondo. Sits 7 people comfortably.
5. Auto thermostatic adjust air-con with blowers on last 2 rows.
6. 3 years warranty and 1 year free service. Use Mitsubishi spare parts.
7. NCAP Safety Rating of 4.

RM80k only now, mana boleh dapat from other brands?

My main criteria is a powerful MPV for my big family yet roomy and affordable. So far only Chery Eastar matched these criterias. rclxms.gif
If you bother to do some research, you should see all the answers above to your questions.

bullshit aside, the eastar was using 2.4L engine so whats so proud with the higher torque?
Not proud lar, but WISE... Yes you are right, of course 2.4L have higher torque, but that is NOT the point.

The point is: Where to find sleek, spacious and powerful MPV with Mitsubishi 2.4L engine that gives 198Nm@3000rpm but cost only around RM80k? icon_idea.gif

Now that is smart buying, and smart way to consider... price/performance man. It's a sleek MPV some more, can sit 7 comfortably without loss of power. thumbup.gif

So please dun hantam for the sake of hantam. Makes u look silly... tongue.gif

There will always be people who come in, read a bit then throw general statement like the above. I'm guilty of it too sometimes...

if u base on horsepower basis, no doubt the low tech 4g64 has better torque, but by how much, a negligible, close to 9nm of torque. your fuel consumption would be higher since its not a fuel efficient engine. 2.4 vs 2.0 is not a fair fight. if u want to compare proper engines, think of the toyota estima 2.4 or toyota alphard 2.4.

wait till the proton mpv comes out, i bet most owners of the chery mpv would be in tears.
So glad to see u wrote the above. For all those considering Chery MPV @ RM80k now (RM86k soon), we have an experience user here Mr KeV asking us to compare it only with Toyota Estima or Alphard. Walau man, thank you for the endorsement of value for money! rclxms.gif

As for FC, it was already mentioned by existing users, RM100 for 450km, damn good. Well again, you need to read this whole thread lor... icon_idea.gif

Same with Chery MPV vs Proton MPV, also addressed earlier in this thread, and in the Proton MPV thread. Main point is where can you find similar specs for only RM80k? I've sat in Citra/Rondo and I tell you the Chery is definitely more roomy, with better looks. Citra/Rondo last row cannot fit 2 full-size adults. Try them yourself.

So for performance/looks/size/features @ RM80k, cannot find anything else lar. And dun try to take different cars to compare different areas, unless u can manufacture a Toyota/Nissan/Honda/Kia rojak. I tested all those below RM90k brands since Feb this year. I know coz I'm a careful buyer with a big family.

PS. I read Paul Tan blog too, but it's different when u actually see and test drive the real thing. Lucky I didn't buy the Livina, very sempit.

i find cherry appealing to my eyes...for rm80k...it value for money indeed...
just checking is it the same as Mitsu Grandis engine per say?
Nope, Grandis use a different engine, 4G69 with MIVEC.

Info on the Mitsubishi 4G64 engine use in Chery Eastar MPV: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_Sirius_engine#4G64

Based on my personal experience, it definitely felt smoother and more powerful in my test drive compare to Avanza and Livina. The pick-up is fast yet smooth, like a muscular horse.

still consider to buy but the possibility for me to purchase one kinda slim because there's a big diff road tax price for vehicle under 2.0 and above 2.0.
Well, this MPV gives 450km for only RM100 according to few owners here. And the torgue is 198Nm@3000rpm, very powerful. With good turning radius, very easy handling. So the nice FC + powerful ride should be worth the extra few hundred a year (less than RM40 a month).

Also, Chery Eastar MPV has Steptronic Transmission, Dual Air Bags, ABS, EBD, CD + MP3 player with USB, Dual Tone Horn, Beautiful LED Rear Lights & etc.

how much is the interest btw?
See my testimony before I booked it, I test drove it twice, once just me & salesman and second with my whole family (6 adults, 1 kid).

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/803752/+20

Mind you, I've tested Avanza, Livina and Rush before but none can match Chery Eastar power (due to it's Mitsubishi 4G64 2.4L engine) and space (very roomy, last row quite ok). The sleek look is just a bonus for me.

Interest is between 3.42% and 3.88% depending on banks. Talk and check with the salesman.

Wow, looks like we have about 8-10 owners already, and only in LYN. Great lah!! rclxms.gif

Hi chery community members, I've just got my car last Friday and have drove 800+ KM within 3 days. Really enjoy the car and just driving around without any purpose. Going to send for first service in 2 days' time. The following are defects found on the car, not sure anyone has the same problem.

1) Front Right side Dorr panel, plastic clip can't hold tight. After closing door few time, it disengaged.
2) Rear view mirror on windscreen is loosen and jerking. Can turn left-right via the mounting on the glass panel.
3) Dirver side, seat height adjustment knob, tercabut and can't fit tightly.
4) Centre console utility box, cannot engage properly, always open by itself.
5) Some jerking (like loose plastic) inside dashboard, not sure what is that. Anyone?
6) 2nd role seat, left side, cannot smoothly close (the folding area) after putting it flat. i suspect cannot engage properly too adter lying flat.
7) 3rd role, right side, the pulling cable is loose causing the handle from boot area open a bit and shaking when driving.
8) Driver side, compartment box underneath the dashboard, cannot close properly, can see some gap after close.
9) Alignment out, sway left. Steering wheel jerk at 100km/h speed.

BTW, first tank, RM 130 @ 1.90/l gave me 610km. It's 8.8 km/l.
Hi everyone, I'm back after almost 1 month absence. Happy New Year to all. thumbup.gif

I have similar problems like the above but almost all solved except the last one. The SC done alignment for me already but still lari? Wonder if anyone else have this problem and how to solve it?

Shoutout to Dynasan and salute to Mr President, Enigma!! notworthy.gif
