Hi,i have some question to ask regarding the staff benefit in Sunway Group. In their web site, stated that there is Education Assistance Program, tuition fees discount for staff. So, is there any Sunway staff here currently benefited from this program? Do share your experience for other benefits too. Thank you.

Just call the HR up and ask when is the next SMART programme intake, they will usually advertise in the major newspapers when they are hiring for the SMART programme. And don't worry about the age as it's the competencies and your results that matter.

I got in to the programme despite me not even graduated yet at that time. So it's really the attitude and your academic performance that counts initially before you get to the interview process.

Shadow i read your first post with great interest. it sounds like u were saying that the program is not as great as its hyped up to be, and u say u dont know anyone who has reached a manager position from it? That was one year ago though..has that changed?

also i know that after the 2 year smart program there is another fast track program that best-performing smarts may be accepted into? do u know anything about this?

To those curious..I know someone that got into the July intake this year. So i guess the next intake will only be next year. =)

No denying the fact that probably much has changed since the last year, boy it's been a year and if not for you guys digging up the thread i would have forgotten about it. Well, two of my close friends in the batch has indeed reached managerial status, so it really boils down to the individual and the company you are in.

Yup, you are correct to say that after the 2 year program there is another program which is called the Young Hi-Po (Potential) programme. It's just another level of management trainee where they prepare you for a bigger role.

For total disclosure, I have just left the Sunway group just last month but of course I will help out as much as I can in the questions as I am still considered an 'alumni' I guess smile.gif

i have not had the chance to work in sunway quarry before but i did work with lafarge aggregates during my internship and we shared a quarry with sunway quarries.

working in a quarry is tough work. it'll be long hours in the sun, and dealing with your workers who are not as educated as you are. learning to get them to listen to you will be a challenge seeing as you're younger than them yet you're the one dishing out the orders.

besides that, you're going to doing reporting on your production, ensuring safety is up to par, and other stuff like that.

i hope that gives you a rough idea of what you do in a quarry smile.gif

Hello everyone,

I got an interview with the Sunway IT-Shared Services Centre for a senior position...that's what they advertised in the jobstreet.

Anyone work there before and mind sharing some experience?

Thank you
