Sure, it can be used for this purpose if your display card comes with DVI output only.

Err, what do you mean wire? The adaptor is exactly as shown in the pictures here, if you mean the HDMI cable, that's optional. I'm just selling the adaptor only.

It's of a different quality for your info. If you're looking for cheaper ones, you can get them from other sellers. I'm only selling these higher quality adaptors for those looking for a better quality adaptor for their LCD monitors and many has purchased them happily from me.

The picture quality is dependent on the HDMI cable used, the connector doesn't affect the picture quality at all. I've sold many here.
