Hi,
Sealed subs are faster but generally dont go as low - basically better for music listening. U can use a rolled up sock as a plug, all u need is to slow down de air movement caused by the driver. Regards Dirtrun |

QUOTE(htkaki @ Jul 3 2009, 01:36 PM) Agree. I am used to the 16Hz , single port blocked setting for my SVS. Whole last week, I used 'sealed' setting with all ports blocked. For music, it is good. But, it just didn't make the cut for movies. So, I took out the 2 blocks and changed it back to 16Hz. Haha..I am usin tat on my PB12plus too but then again I m not into music.. I dunt 'retune' anytin on de amp cos I hv calibrated all along wif de plug in.. I read sumwhere tat its not recommended to port all plugs in a ported sub .. sumtin abt shortenin de life of de driver or sumtin like tat.. But then again, if it works for u.. Then do it. Dirtrun |

QUOTE(htkaki @ Jul 24 2009, 07:26 PM) If no distri, agent also ok? Well..Yes, order volume is important, which I think (no hard feelings) that we are not up to Singaporean's buying spree. They buy it like buying kacang putih even it is abt SGD2K Sgporeans hv a diff lifestyle too .. for instance, they are not encouraged to buy cars - so tat saves a lot liao.. N ya .. higher exch rate makes products cheaper n las gahmen dont tax xcept gst .. Cheers Dirtrun |

Its surprisingly 'hot' track for subs.. dunno why.. I mean its a drama sort of flick.. cum to tink of it Saawariya (another hindi based film) is also bass hot Cheers Dirtrun |

Hi,
Cuming from a 3 yr old PB12+ owner.. de price offered here for delivery to house of an SvS sub is pretty reasonable.. We oldbirds who bought thru Sg had to wait a hell of a long time for delivery thou' it was cheaper back then.. Go for it.. Dirtrun |

Condolences bro..
On xtra headroom.. it is always better to have more than less, no? Of cos this is talkin from a viewpoint where budget permits.. I wanted a pb10 but was talked into stretching my (way way stretch liao) budget to accomodate de bigger 12+ .. Certainly no regrets Dirtrun |

Ok..
Tis is based on my research eons ago.. Basically a bigger driver will hv less prblms achieving a stated spl and also a lower frequency but in subs a bigger pwr amp section helps as well .. I remember there is one 10inch model wif a 1000wt(svs pb12+ uses a 300+wt amp only) amp driving it and it was pretty gud too but it cost more back then (forgot wat model liao..) Then there is de argument of fast and slo drivers in sealed n ported designs too but tat is another story.. To be fair, there are other budget(uhm budget for USD la) sub brands now in de US besides svs but it wont be proper to talk abt tis on tis thrd.. suffice to say a 12" svs sub is more than sufficient to fill de avrg malaysian living room.. My 2 ct Dirtrun |

If budget constraints.. then no choice la .. 10 inch svs is better than a lot of other 12inch subs liao..
But I figure once you hear a 12inch wan after ur own 10incher .. then there'd be prblms.. |

QUOTE(ycs @ Aug 20 2009, 05:24 PM) Mine slightly bigger n I hv de pb12+ n another 10incher .. now tat makes wat 22 inches kekeke QUOTE(jchong @ Aug 20 2009, 05:28 PM) Yup, reading can only get you so far but it is the first step. I am all for reading n gaining personal experiences n rvws from de www.. wat I m tryin to add is tat bottom line is in de end u hv to experience it to 'feel' how gud/bad tat particular product is.. FWIW I bought mine blind (well deaf in tis case) all becos of readin la..And if you think reading is hard, getting actual experience is even harder. You see so many people asking how does this sound or which is better? Very few of us are really qualified to answer such questions unless we have actual experience listening to the item in question. That was simply due to SVS being less accessible compared to Velodyne. Now even with htkaki bringing it in, in the market outside the number of Velos still far outnumber SVS. Yup.. SvS will always be a niche 'product' but it is kinda nice to see more of it here, nowadays.. instead of impressions like 'eeyer why u buy such a brand - china wan ah.. buy velodyne la US wan woh.. |

QUOTE(mys_terious @ Sep 6 2009, 02:13 PM) Hi..I calibrated both my subs(pb12+ n an ol 10incher..) together for a 5db overhead but most of the time (its sufficient wif jus one sub on..), I ll jus on one sub to watch n its usually the bigger one - when de svs bottomed out at 6/7db below reference, I lowered de gain n on'd d other sub to compensate a bit.. still shiok - not svs shiok la but boooomm still la |

You mean the sub is calibrated to be 5dB louder than the rest of the speakers? Yes - for both subs together - most ppl do tat so u get a more uhm how do u say .. more feel.. QUOTE(mys_terious @ Sep 7 2009, 09:32 PM) bro, just curious how many db was it when u bottomed out your plus.. did u measure with your spl meter.. must me pretty loud Nope ..Didnt check .. Haha..If you are lucky enough to get a demo of one of these, you’ll live off potato soup for a year, or even sell your spouse, to be able to get one. It’s the single most glorious and potent sub bass system it has ever been my privilege to play with." Wouldnt go so far to say tat.. cos I luv food too much.. but it is a decent sub.. On de pricing .. I dont see wat de fuss is abt.. tats jus wat bro Lightning quotes in de UK.. dont necessarily mean u can get same pricing in Mal.. at least I n my usual adolescent mind can see tat.. I got my pb12+ for slightly over 4k abt 3yrs back (thou' tis is ex sg) .. no person in his right mind would tink abt gettin de same price now, rite? I for one am glad there is local svs representation now.. kudos for HTkaki.. On de 220v surchrge, could it be sum Mal cert tat is needed? Warmest regards Dirtrun |
