I have now complete building my new rig for my daily use.
It consist of:
Samsung 2253LW 22" LCD
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core AM2 4800+ 2.5GHz
Asus M2A-VM AMD690G DDR2 800
XFX Geforce 9500 GT 512MB DDR3
2GB kit (2x 1gb) Mushkin DDR2 800Mhz RAM

All left is install a new OS. My choice is Vista Ultimate x64.
But first I need an advise from you Vista gurus.
Should I after that version to make use of mobo's memory slot?

Is there any disadvantage using Vista x64 with above configuration?
Let's say I install it, what should I expect to see? I mean in terms of problem? Or is it the same with typical normal Vista?

A full length advise are welcomed.

u have onli 2GB which is 1GB x 2 sticks... i don't see the purpose of using vista64 unless your planning to upgrade your ram to min 4GB in very near future

however be reminded that.. vista64, fresh install oledi takes abt 1.2GB ram while vista32 fresh install takes abt 700MB ram from the systems which i have installed b4

Hhmm.... Vista x64 are best used if you have 4GB RAM at hand as well as DX10 feature. Vista x64 should be better optimized for multicore processors too. With your currect configuration, I recommend you to stick to XP or Vista 32bit.

or you can just tune up your rig to 4GB

btw, from what I've seen, my friends using vista ultimate has a lot more stability compared to me using my vista home premium.. so in case you're aiming for a long term usage thing, go for 4GB

Just bought that RAM and I do planning to upgrade the system to use 6GB - 8GB of ram but maybe not too soon.

But what do you mean by DX10 feature?
The system built based on Athlon 64 Dual Core, but I guess it should be on 32bit for better performance?

With my configuration, can I play Assasins Creed?

with 9500GT, you MIGHT be able to play it at medium setting?
but as others have suggested, stick to x32
some softwares are still buggy on x64

Simple answer:

If ur mobo can support >4GB, go with Vista 64;
If ur mobo max only 4GB, then stay @ Vista 32.

Yeah, my mobo can support up to 8GB RAM.
The only set back for now was I only have 2GB RAM for now.

Upgrade cannot.
You need a clean installation of x64.

There is one problem if you want to 'game' on your machine. You will need a better graphics card...

using 2GB is okay... i am using Vista x64 with 2GB on my laptop...

but it's recommended that u get 4GB as Vista x64 loads both the 32-bits and 64-bits kernel (or sth along that line), thus requires more RAM...

Bro, do you intend to overclock?? If you don't, just get ordinary RAMs. It's save you some cash and you can go for more RAMs.

I thought the lower the latency of a RAM, the better it is.

i suggest u spend on a better graphic card first if u wanna play games...

Yes, lower latency is better but if you compare lower latency vs more amount of RAM, sure the more amount is better right?

Right now I'm more focusing on buying more ram as I do use a lot of photoshop and autocad.

And after this I'll bought myself a better gfx card.

The graphic card affects the gameplay more than the RAM does.If you're planning on gaming with your pc,you'll need a good processor too.
