wanna ask hor, regarding alligator snapping turtle.
if end of their tails been accidentally cut off, will it grow back?

hi guys, i owned a pair of ST and i hav no time to look after them due to new working environment. So i intend to sell them to good owner hand.
However, last time i heard star turtle is under protection therefore selling and trading it will be illegal. Anyone can clarify is it illegal ? I hav gone through afew reply in garage sales . Some say is legal some say is need permit only considered legal.
Therefore can anyone clear my doubt?
