i bought 2 RES last Thurs from a small petshop in chow kit. the condition of the RESes were pretty bad, they just put them, about 20, in the ice cream container! when browsing thru them, i saw 2 long tailed ones. one of them is already dead, another one is sorta half dead

QUOTE(the_catacombs @ Jun 30 2009, 11:55 PM) mayb the bigger one dominates the basking area... normal for animals to have territory... mayb a larger tank and bigger basking area will help... there's another basking area, i have set up 2 for each of them but the small one prefers to be under water. the other day, i increased the water level a bit, about 3 inches, the little guy cant swim. it did a backflip underwater |

finally my tiny one can climb onto the rock! i increased the water level to 2 inches now... before this it would do a backflip, as if it couldnt swim. the bigger one swims well. i slowly increased water level and going to move them to a bigger tank when i move back home

QUOTE(camillenoir @ Jul 18 2009, 10:03 PM) why are you asking for trouble? well, obviously i am asking for opinions before taking any actions as i am not sure. that is what forums are for isn't it, asking for opinions/share thougts, etc? since i've read that peppers are allowed, what about capsicums?as capsicums vary greatly in scoville count, the results could vary from nothing severe to very severe. http://www.redearslider.com/plants.html |

hmmm one of my RES wouldn't grow, i have 2. when i bought them, they are almost of the same size, but one is bigger than the other. after about 3 to 4 months, it still remains the same size.
i've separated them, worried that the smaller one could be intimidated by the bigger one. could it be the problem? |

My dad (koi enthusiast) told me not to feed guppies cos they might be dirty, and said baby tilapias that are used for feeder fish might be of a better choice. Any ideas?

I went to check on the price of guppies, i work near Jalan Raja Laut (where i bought my RES from a year ago, RM8 each). The guppies going for RM10 for 6... there's ikan longkang for sale also RM1 for 2. No baby kois.
Guess gotta look harder for feeder fish This post has been edited by static: Mar 24 2010, 02:40 PM |

QUOTE(budblely @ Mar 25 2010, 10:20 AM) Hehe, my office is near there Added on March 25, 2010, 8:43 pm QUOTE(BIKA @ Mar 25 2010, 03:11 PM) i guess those RM 10 for 6pcs guppies are meant for pet fish. The fish shop is a bit, weird. They either overprice their items, or really underpriced it. I bought my turtles there for RM8, and they mix it with the long tailed taiwan turtles (2 of them). But realised the taiwan turtles, one is dead, the other half dead. ikan longkang 2pcs for Rm1 for baby kois, normally LFS sell at RM 1 for 12pcs-20pcs. I'm going to my folks, and there's a LFS near Zoo Negara. Gonna check it out tomorrow, thank god for paid leave This post has been edited by static: Mar 25 2010, 08:43 PM |
