Hi guys,

I'm looking forward to set up an indoor area for star tortoise but unsure about the lighting setup. I found this brand of product.

Exo-Terra

Can anyone advise me on which type of lamp to use?

Thank you.

Regarding the prices, here mayb i can help abit (just a roughly measure) :

#3. Star = rm150+
#4. Sulcata = rm500+
#1. Leopard = Rm500+
#2. Radiated = Rm1000+

Hope it might help. Do more survey, information & caresheet 1st, Bro  icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi,

What about the rough price for an egyptian tortoise and golden greek? I can't seem to find anyone selling both of these species.

Steady Steady... i aready call to the PERHILITAN and ask jor... The News is True, but not yet FINALIZE yet... even wat species of turtles / tortoises need to get permit also still in discussion. How much per ekor or wat document u need to bring/ provide also still in discussion too. Even the person of PERHILITAN also say the wartawan of the newspaper, aready wrote till out of topic. PERHILITAN will make another conference again between end of January2010 or early of February2010 for the FINALIZE decisions. Stay tuned for their website update.  icon_rolleyes.gif  icon_rolleyes.gif

I think there are several reasons they implement such licensing system:

1. raising extra revenue (don't know for what [funds to preserve wildlife?])
2. keeping track of the species' head count
3. discourage illegal importation and exportation of wildlife
4. battling illegal poachers/ hunters

I think they won't target those home breeders (maybe you will need a permit to do so). Fining up to a maximum of RM 100,000 per head is a bit ridiculous. Imagine that your house is suddenly flooded with PERHILITAN guys, 10 little tortoise hatclings seized plus RM 1,000,000 fine (and if worse comes to worst, go to jail for 7 years). Those Star reporters always exaggerate too much.

What if I've already kept the star tortoise for 2 years+. Is it still possible to apply for a license? The licensing system only started this year. What about those who have kept these tortoises for a long time already and do not have proper documentation.
