About a month or two ago, Ikano was selling them babies for RM300 (give or take). Negotiable too. But they were sold as fast goreng pisang panas. Just FYI.

The one sold at Ikano was Common Snapping Turtle. smile.gif

I was almost sure that there were two species there i.e. commons and alligators because they looked different and were sold at a different price. Oh well, maybe the both were common snappers and the cheaper ones were the low graded ones. Anything is a possibility nowadays. smile.gif

Most of the time yes. It's known as a prolapse. Most of the time, if the animals do not retract, an experienced keeper need to re-insert the organ back into the body. This process must be done with precision and judicial force should be implemented. It is also be best done during the early stage, before the exposed organ get swollen. Some herps may even suggest stitches to prevent from re-occuring.

This is just the worse case scenario. If the matter isn't serious, then the above is not necessary.

Just for info - a prolapse is USUALLY an initial sign of internal parasite infestation. You might want to check into that.

Just my RM0.02. You can choose to ignore it if you wish.

Thanks in advance.

the price is actually quite cheap for cites 1 animal. and by cites 1, you know what i mean.
our you-know-who used to have throngs of them before you-know-what happened.
I used to know a guy who had Kachuga Tectas. He was aiming to breed and multiply the species. Just like Astrochelys yniphoras, they are branded as CITES 1 for a reason. Most of the time, such reason is due to extinction. But he failed and the animals were released to our ecosystem instead. Thanks to the heroic efforts from a certain authority. That guy has a message to the authority: "I am sure your efforts are praised by most of our dumb and blind society because you only portray the truth BUT NOT THE WHOLE TRUTH. Thanks to you, they may now end up being an invasive species. Congrats MOFO! Now please go back home, twist your d1ck towards your damn ar$ehole and fuc.k yourself. Why? Because you deserve it."

For your fuc.king info please.

1. Obviously you haven't dealt with them before. Anyway, I do not wish to extend the matter further and therefore please accept my sincere apology Admin.

2. True. Unfortunately, "what's wrong" and "what's right" are just perceptions.

LOL new keepers still show them openly, maybe I should buzz Uzairi to put a disclaimer on the 1st page.

F-guy was so active last year; putting Leslie Gayboigh and some others behind bars, shutting down a constructive online community and put many keepers to misery. Now, they're all in silence since Wildlife became a target of media scrutiny.

I think you are mistaken. Perhilitan did not shut this thing down. It was the owner who shut it down under his own free will. He still has the database. Only domain name was sold.

You know what, they actually persuaded him to continue because it's their lubuk to "fish". There was no "push" the owner to stop.

WHY ? Radiated only reserved for Dato/Seri ...etc ? I paid less than RM 1k each for the recent batch !! There are more much more expensive species in the market ie Ivory or albino sulcata , Burmese star , Yniphora ...etc then those reserved for Tun / Royal family ??

Work hard and reward yourself when you reach a target  ...etc !! you dun have to be Dato ....etc to own a Radiated ...etc

I think she is too small to be egg bound. But I have not bred any stars yet. So I would not know much. Hope you could find the answer.

You keeping them pretty dry ?? Look at the  scales on their head , and the scutes(last pic especially) and front limbs on the cherry-head pic  !!
Yes, I noticed that too. But I have been keeping the cherrys for 2 years (give or take) from 2 inchers with no ill effects or abnomalities. Since they grow and look ok, I will continue until I move all of them outside (this period will be very soon when I move to a new house). They smell less this way too. A year ago, their enclosures were different. And they smell like shi.t. But since I started keeping geckos which is consuming a lot of space (in my freaking jamban LOL!), I decided to alter their enclosures to a simpler one to accomodate my other animals. Now lesser smell yet dryer skin.

Regarding to the scutes - are you refering that it's too dry or already distorted/pyramiding? If it's the former, then I would continue the same husbandry until I move them outside. But if it's the latter, then I guess I have to re-correct my husbandry sooner that I hope. Let me know alright.

Thanks!

This one's shell not as smooth as they should be (I call these small lump or warty )!! The rest OK As many sources pointing pyramid of shell towards to too low overall humidity togather with diet and supplement !!
[attachmentid=1279457]

Noted on your point. Here is something I have observed for the past few years keeping them on various setups (3 types to be exact). All were moved from one setup to another at the same time. Therefore, there was not even one day each was separated from the other. But the way they do grow seems different. I will give you two more examples. They are as below:

Specimen 1:
user posted image
This specimen came to me with a slightly distorted carapace whereby the few back half of its scutes were higher that the rest. But after about a year or so, all the scutes starting to show the same height. Either the front scutes had risen or the back scutes had sucken. I sincerely do not know which is which until now. But she seems to look way better now compared to before. Back then, people thought she was cacat LOL!

Specimen 2:
user posted image
The ideal cherry scutes should look like this right? If so, this exact specimen was kept at exactly the same condition with the bigger one. And they are the same batch. The big one was way smaller than this specimen but now this specimen is the smallest in my collection. Does this mean that it's a male? But it doesn't look like any other males I have though. I really can't tell yet because it's still 3.5 inch (+-). It eats like a pig though. But doesn't seem to grow much. As you can see from its head, this specimen is also being kept dry.

Now comes the most important question i.e. why do some specimens' carapace are smooth while some are "warty" eventhough their husbandry are exactly the same? Do genetics play any part in this? I asked because eventhough they were all from the same shipment batch, they do not however look like they came from the same parentage.

QUOTE(SAMPERTH @ Oct 30 2009, 06:42 AM)
Remember (he must have shown you ) that baby Aldabra in KK all else OK except for that 3 fused togather scutes that refuse to seperate for the 1 year he has it , thus the deformed overall shape of the carapace - wrong diet beside lack of supplement

Yes I remember. I just forgot to ask this one question though i.e. did he received them like that or did he made them thay way? They were ugly though. Look exactly like a carved pu$$y. LMFAO! Anyway I noticed his indoor setups too. And they were completely different from mine. His setups were totally (as in they look like they were living in a desert LOL!) dry. I always thought that scutes are made to grow "out". But he managed to make them grow "in". It's amazing. LOL!

QUOTE(SAMPERTH @ Oct 30 2009, 06:42 AM)
Dry skin around head and front limbs seems to like to "attack" indoor Cherry-Head - dont know why !! But since you moving them soon to outdoor should be OK or be corrected by then !!
I'll be correcting them soon. No worries mate! Thanks for the advice.

Regards.
