Hi XsaintX.. I bet for 2 years old, you RES is around 4-5 inch shell length right.  From what I'm reading, RES that reach 4-5 inch size should be feeding pellets every other day.

Have you tried to give your turtles lettuces? Its hard to start with new things such vegies for turtles as they get bigger and older. But who knows, just give a try.  Just put 3 or 4 green leaf lettuce or common name salad leaves to your turtles tank.  Don't give up.  They will eat it sooner or later. Good LuCk~!

Anyway you may try to soak the lettuces in tuna juice to entices your turtles to eat it.  Romaine lettuces is one of the best to start with.

ya they're around that size. today i tried to feed them kangkung and they ate abit, probably cos i starved them yesterday. will try the romaine lettuces smile.gif

Yep, they almost one year old, they are about 3.5 inch both.
Normally within a year, normal RES should reach their size about 3 inch ++,
2 years old size about 4 - 5 inch.
For 6 - 7 inch shell carapace length should be around 3 years.

Since you said yours is still NEW, of course the size would be like 20cent or maybe 50cent.
By giving proper diet, goods light, good condition.. you will see within a year your RES will grow more than 20cent icon_rolleyes.gif

If can, try to give your turtles romaine lettuces or any other green or red leaf lettuce (the ordinary salad leaves that you can get at supermarket). Romaine lettuces much more crunchier, little bit sweet and not bitter.

LONG CLAWS show your RES is a MALE. I strongly recommend not to cut, trim or file the claws. Just leave as they are.. If not your MALE RES will lose his 'masculine' identity or not feel macho anymore. Long claws are sexual characteristics of a male and completely normal. Cutting them will cause unnecessary pain and infection.

For easy and correct way to measure your turtle, put he/she on a A4 paper, just draw a line infront of the shell and back of the shell then get rulers.

Owh thank you for ready my blog.. heh.. I just blog anything everything regards my turtles.
Yup I lost 2 of my RES, they are couple.
Though the pool its outdoors but I put them at a porch, not at a garden or backyard that is open space.
They not be eaten by crows, cats, dogs or whatsoever because they lost in heavy raining (4-5am in the morning), the rain keep on pour in the pool and the water level full til the top edge of the pool so yeah they jumped out from the pool together. Kawin lari maybe. So right now, I left 3 of my turtles and put them inside the house where I make indoor habitat for them.. I don't want to lose any of my turtles anymore. Its killing me deeply inside and frustrated.

i think the second picture is a common snapping turtle. Can further confirm if there is a red 'worm' inside its mouth.

Both Ally snapper Just the second pic is of an older specimen !!

I think if I remember correctly someone in this thread mention something about the sex

M sharper higher scutes while F flatter !!

But I think just like Indian star diet or supplements imbalance wise - Fast unbalance growth contribute to sharper scutes (I have seen both breeding adults M and F sporting flat scutes )

Cheers
