not so much from this season.. i shifted all of them res to new enclosures and they took some time acclimating. some are agitated and some big ones gone aggressive. got few offspring but next season should be better.

some stupid worker also managed to burn big specimen (40cm+) to death while clearing up land. (which is pretty f#cked up since i never authorize the use of fire).

the good news is some CB land bound res already seems interested in the opposite sex, and some hill-dwelling res are back in the oil palm plantation after been missing since the flood early last year.

Good to hear !! Your so many RES doing well !!

Hows your local Painted RES doing , more eggs ??

The Hill-dwelling type , the Impress or the Brown RES ??

But glad to hear more local sp being propogated by local keeper/breeder !!

Sam @ emystiong sends his regards !!

Will let him know !! BTW he reads this forum from time to time !!

This year his emys production slowed a bit but another sp's up by a lot !! LOL

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One of your KK friend / associate took/bought quite a few from him right ?? All breedable adults both Male and Female !!

But his "emysking " title should still remain as he still have heaps of emys of all size !!!

time and money and large isolated land.  smile.gif   doing that kind of stuff in kl is plain suicide. which means we should marry some wealthy sino-kadazan to kickstart big-scale projects  smile.gif
yup, business wise, doing spiny is non-viable... unless doing morph smile.gif
malaysia fauna? interesting story...

the more reason for us to keep away from risky discussions (like how to smuggle animals on plane, where to get cheap star tortoise etc.) on this thread!!!
F18 also cannot get license if parent got no cites.
*
But currently there are no CITES quota for WC Impressed , only some so call CITES CB appeared in US ( stating CB from Malaysia )

So parents no CITES F ?? also cannot get CITES LOL

sponsor is harder to get than you might think...  smile.gif

They will share among themselves and eat/sell them !!!

I have seen them change hands in Federal buildings in bags of 20 - 30 !! In that particular case in the Immigration Department (I was renewing my passport ) a few years back

10,000 smuggled turtle eggs seized
BERNAMA

SANDAKAN: The marine police have cracked their biggest case of turtle egg smuggling this year, with the seizure of some 10,000 eggs from the Philippines.
Four smugglers were unloading the eggs, worth about RM28,000, from a speedboat in the Kampung Forest beach area on Sunday night when a team of policemen arrived at the scene at 8.15pm.

On seeing the policemen, the smugglers panicked and escaped in the boat, leaving 20 sacks of eggs on the beach.

Acting Sandakan marine police chief ASP Muhammad Sallam Spawi described the seizure as the biggest this year.

He said marine police had increased operations to eradicate smuggling of the eggs and prevent its illegal sale in the district.
"Initial investigations have revealed that a syndicate obtained the eggs from several islands in the Philippines. While the syndicate is masterminded by foreigners, the locals sell the eggs in Bandar Sandakan for as much as RM2.80 per piece."

why are they so cruel cry.gif

Just an update

They plan to rebury the eggs and try to hatch them ( Fingers very crossed ) !!

Even mention in one of the local Chinese newspaper about how some of the officer ( Perikanan ) have kept some eggs in their store and after a few days turtles hatch out ( some miracale ) !!!

LOL What are they thinking !! A remark from my friend !!!

Will that ever work Samperth?
*
Reptiles' eggs dont store well !! Especially with rough handling and days since being laid !!

The odds of hatching any from those 10k eggs is almost none !!

But that will be the best way to cover their " tracks / sales "
Since buried eggs can disappear ie dug up by predators .......etc or " nest site " cannot be found

well...at least they did their job...i mean...they could have taken th bribe...but instead of having done that...they played their part...now aint that professional?
*
Did their job as in the Sabah Turtle eggs case ??

Lets do some maths !!

Assume 10000 eggs sold for RM 2 ( cheaper price to speed sale ) a pc easily comes to RM 20 000 !!

How much could those Four smugglers offer in term of bribe ?? RM 100 , 200 , 500 or even 1000 !!
Now compare that !!

It couldnt be wrong...what i saw was really a burmese star...the boxy pattern with slightly light yellow was totally different from the indian star...wasnt a leopard either...you could recognise it at a first glance...and whats wrong with burmese stars? They are quite commonly sold in northern region...provided you have the cash that is...but RM300 is a bit expensive for a star...be it the indian star or burmese star
*

Since you so sure you saw Burmese Star lets see if theres any Burmese star in the pic I posted ?

Well then...so far as the supplier of the burmese star is concerned...there have been specimens being imported from Taiwan...those specimens are all captive bred...cool huh...
*
Do you know how much a CB or WC Burmese Star can sell in Taiwan , Japan , Hong Kong , US ............ Why would a breeder want to sell to Malaysia and for less than USD 100 a pc !!!

Not really...the radiata hatchlings are sold for US2grands plus in the overseas...but in penang...you could get it for around RM7xx...if you really tour around the pet shops in our northern region...you will really be shocked...and do you know that there was a batch of diamondback hatchlings being sold for RM8x per piece in Penang and Butterworth? Dont just follow the prices in central or southern region...
*
Radiated are expensive oversea due to them being on CITES I and thus if not CB with the proper papers are not allowed for sale !!

Whereas over here they are imported from many places ( most/all without CITES ) thus the lower price !! There are also claims that they are produced locally with papers too !!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Beside CH and CB they ( Radiated ) could be WC ( larger specimen) as there are still so many of them both in their native island country and some nearby island where they are introduced !! In comparison for example the Burmese Star which are considered extinct in the wild !!

Dude...im a burmese ST lover and have been hunting around for this sp for years...i could be mistaken sometimes but you think i would make this sort of joke in front of you the gurus? That one on the most upper second right grabs my intention the most but its caraspace pattern does not really seem convincing to me

If you are such a Burmese ST lover and saw one being offered for RM 300 a pc why dont you get it !! I would for sure !!
