I'm currently looking at several softwares that can be used to translate COBOL/FORTRAN coded applications to JAVA , C++ or VB.net

i mean it has the option to translate to either one of those. not to all. part of research.

you got transport to the conference? i'm trying to arrange transport for all of us.

there are COBOL/Fotran to C compilers out there especially from GNU. Converting non-OO languages to OO languages is nearly impossible to be automated.

AFAIK, Cobol has a LOT of dialects, which is going to make your translation a little tough. Most do manual memory management I think, which will be irritating when you want to port it into a managed framework.

@OT: Not too sure, might be driving if i can figure out the way and parking costs.
