sweat.gif Why use until ISO1600 for macro + bokeh ler..
doh.gif Looks damn noisy la...

Use lower ISO (400 for example) + slower shutter speed (to capture more light) and mount it on the tripod and shoot smile.gif

You can always overexpose it and then under-develop. That should reduce the noise quite abit.

That square looks... weird. Is it originally like that or something you added in?

And it doesn't make much sense when you shoot at ISO1600 and then underexposed it.

(Btw it's bias not bios.)

I hereby would like to warn you to stop spamming one-liners comment in Photography section.

It's quite obvious that you are spamming with the intention to increase your post count by

1. Posting similar thing in old topics
2. Posting unnecessary on-liner comments like "oh nice", "oh this is good". "yea you are rite" and so.
3. Replying to post without using multiple post but purposely separate them one by one

If you are genuine in learning, learn how to post properly first. I'm still holding back from taking any harsh action on you and frankly speaking I hate to do so. So be good. smile.gif

Doesn't matter la, as mod said, I need to learn how to post properly first. But in the same time, I'll learn how to take a good picture from my gears by looking and learn from others. And here another picture from me biggrin.gif

J/K la. I think is her make up and lighting at night a bit distracting. The photo was taken without flash. that's why WB abit out and noise can be seem as high ISO.

I already check with the size, if not so big, then the centre point focus will look sharp... tongue.gif

Yes, I noticed the dust too. Don't know when the dust got in. Early pic does not have. It seems the dust is on the sensor. I tried D60 Kit Lens, the dust is still there. I did try the auto cleansing but not sucessful. But later, the dust gone (I think). need to take more pic to confirm.

First, go buy Nikon D3

Joking, first of, I use Lightroom 2 and I shoot RAW, I have not used CS3 for a long while, only for merging photos and to do 'extended' post processing.

This was fairly simple, I adjusted the exposure slightly higher, added more blacks at +15, recovery at+83, Adjusted white balance from 5350K to 5936, clarity +21.

Highlights at +21, shadows at -13, dark +11, light +2, Although at this part it's not for all pictures. Sharpness at 45 rdius 1.0, detail 32, again not for all pictures. No noise reduction for luminance, just for colour since it was shot at a very low base iso.

Lots of vignetting was added, using the lens correction and post crop and I adjusted the camera calibration, with ACR4.4, shadow tint at -6, Again this part is not for all pictures as it might come out differently.

This was the original picture

Naw, there is a history palette where I can go back to previous actions but I'm verry careful with the work. There are no layers in Lightroom, I've got to go use CS3 for that, but I rarely need to layer for dodge or burn a photo since lightroom ahs the ability to upp or lower the contrast and highlights. Plus with Lightroom 2 there is a brush tool where can apply a mask to adjust exposure, clarity, brightness, and can delete individual masks if you want.

Wah damn shy la I am totally n00b at RAW. (I use JPG) Is there a thread to RAW processing here?

As for vignetting, how do you obtain vignetting out of the lens without PP? I shoot wide open all the time to try to get the vignetting, but I only get it sometimes and I don't know how to replicate it.

Photoshop or Lightroom can do vignetting easily, as for me doing ƒ1.4 with my 50mm on my D3 gives a heck of a lot of vignetting, and I love it!

psp_BOY: Ooo, Lightroom 2's brush tool sounds neat! I always had the impression that RAW processors were just a bunch of sliders. Scary, to me. I only really dodge and burn in Photoshop 7 LOL.

I think I'm seeing a pattern here... it could be that close-focusing brings out the vignetting. Gotta try tomorrow!

0168257061: Thanks!

RAW is super fun, though I've stopped down with 12 bit RAW this month just for the hec of it, I was using 14 before this and I get 75-90 pictures less on a 4GB card.

Doesn't feel right to not post a pic, so here

Naw, there is a history palette where I can go back to previous actions but I'm verry careful with the work. There are no layers in Lightroom, I've got to go use CS3 for that, but I rarely need to layer for dodge or burn a photo since lightroom ahs the ability to upp or lower the contrast and highlights. Plus with Lightroom 2 there is a brush tool where  can apply a mask to adjust exposure, clarity, brightness, and can delete individual masks if you want.

I know your thinking "What's so great about this picture?"

Aha! I dunno I like it.

Maybe It's special because it's a 100% crop of this:

Woohoo! Wish I shot it at ƒ/5 though, I'd like a bit more detail. Still, the sharpness and detail at 100% is really nice

actually i take alook at some bokeh shots from devianart gallery...alot of ppl out there actually didnt include a focus point in the picture..everything is just OOF..i guess its just sumthing diff from the 'traditional' bokeh we always seen..to me..i think its more about the 'mood' created by the picture itself...whether u focus on a subject or eveyrthing OOF..it doesnt really matter...

peace peace...

yeah u have a point there.. let start a healty debate on this.. if OOF is consider bokeh.. than any lens with any aparture also can created it am i right?

in DSLR photographer try to make a subject stand out by making the backgroud blur to make the subject stand out like u see from most of the potrait picture u can see the subject stand out from the picture due to the backgroud boked and blured

forexample if u shot a girl and the girl also boked all blur with the background do u still think this picture is nice? lol

and if want to created the entired blury image u can use 50mm F16 manual focus shot it with super close distance u will get blured cos its oof

this is what i am trying to express thumbup.gif

pls dont feel offended am here to make friend and not start a argue lol better make it clear first haha

dont u think so? which is y i ask where's the focus point tongue.gif

calvin_gsc, great shots and colors!

mitmivec: I think a picture with nothing in focus is legit. After all the title is bokeh-ness. biggrin.gif

If anything, the thing that disturbs me more is distracting bokeh. If I shoot a detailed background that becomes 'flaky' instead of creamy, with double outlines, or brightlined borders, I'd probably shoot again to avoid such bokeh. There are quite a few shots here that have this (even from legendary lenses) but people don't mind, or they like it, so I don't say anything.

Anyway back to bokeh!

nt trying to argue or wadever..since when a less-than-1month-old photographer could argue with u guys..hahaz...

i agree that we shd usually hav our subject in focus while making everything else blur so that it would b more stand-out...but sometimes the 'rule' could b broken to show a photograher's creativity and most imptly he is able to delivery wad he is trying to say in the picture...showing ppl the correct 'mood' when he is taking the picture...

just like the famous rule of third..im sure we wont hav to follow it all the time...after all its just a recommended way of shooting..nothing wrong if u don follow..

cheers..

Perhaps you should lower down your ISO to 100 and increase the aperture to f8 to get the subject more in focus. smile.gif

Eh read the rules yo, one picture per post!

Aoshi_88: The second picture (which shouldn't be there) is a bit green. The first one also a bit out. One Touch WB for the win!

Some people just don't read the first page.

Thread starter, or the next submitter:
- No, spam or increase your post count. This thread main objective is to encourage more people to post their pictures of their favorite "bokeh" pics
- Pictures from any sort of cameras are welcome
- Use the spoiler tag whenever you are quoting someone's picture.
- Photographs posted must not exceed 1024px in either width or height.
- Only ONE picture is allowed per post and the you could only post the next picture after someone else has post.
Just a suggestion.

roces96, nice greeeens!

epito, where's the out-of-focus area? It's not very bokeh-ful. sad.gif

achew, love your background-turned-bokeh! I like that kind of bokeh the most.

just a noob comment here...
i think the distance btwn the object and the background is nt that significant for F4.5 hence the background is nt really blurred...further more its a simple back n white background..might nt b easy to show the blur-ness of it..

just my 2cents worth tho sweat.gif

btw thanks albnok

I use auto focus. may be b'cos of lighting (too bright) or my Tammy got auto focus problem or my hand shake?

i think is my hand shake cos the speed is 1/8 sec.

Then, you should set the shutter fast or something like 1/2000.

What I learn, to avoid hand shake, set the shutter fast or using mono/tripod....

But, why bring those thing on dinner time? Right?

original (I hope cos using 1 megabyte file size option)

it looks like hand shake.

i can't use 1/2000 cos the environment is not bright enough.

bring tripod? no place to set it up. sweat.gif monopod..may be. but the security guard may think it is a weapon. rclxub.gif
