Even if you had 2 hard disk, it wont overcome the problem of getting infected by a virus since it can jump and infect any device which is connected to your computer, that includes other hard disk and usb thumbdrives, some virus can also infect other computers in a network.

You could try using a virtual machine which is creating an image of an OS inside your existing computer. It is totally isolated from each other unless you dont want it to be.

Btw, you have 2 spare windows license so you can do this?

Yeaaaaa right.

I dont really see need to have 2 window xp since if your afraid of virus, then either get a good anti virus, practice safe computing or use a non windows OS like Mac or linux since those machines are rarely infected with a virus. Plus i doubt anyone would purchase 2 window license for 1 computer, but then again i doubt most malaysian even bother to purchase a legit windows license or any license software for that matter.

I am currently using both win xp and ubuntu linux machine at my office PC for work but i installed ubuntu just to try it out and so far i find the functions much better then windows, it can even do duplicate desktop which is a cool feature.

If you want to avoid being infected from viruses, designate only one partition for going online. E.g. partition 1 is XP OS One, partition 2 is XP OS Two.

Use only XP OS One to log in to the web, XP OS Two should be strictly off line (disable LAN and modem) except for critical updates only and for work purpose only.

Another option is going online using SandBoxie. You can run any application in SandBoxie and avoid infection because it write files to a virtual space. You can later determine these files are safe before you write it on a real hard disk space. Read about it here:

http://www.sandboxie.com/

Using Linux on the 2nd partition is also a good idea.
