I would like to ask all casingless sifus a few question...

1) Where did u place ur casingless pc? eg , in ur room , confined room , living hall, etc..

2) How do you protect ur rig from "disaster" and unwanted trouble. eg. lizards going to ur pc , etc.

3) How is the air flow of casingless pc u think?

4) Do you buy or use any form of "container" to hold ur component? ( If u do have pls recommend me thanks ) eg. hard disk bezel , motherboard box

5) Lastly do you think is casingless is an excellent idea?

4: put the mobo on the table and make some hole for cabling and put hardisk, psu, drive, pump, radiator at lower deck..just like workbench table...

as a casingless user myself, my reason is, my processor fan is too big for the casing, and look unstable when i put it in, looks like pisa tower to me..hahha...maybe the fan is to heavy for the casing..old casing btw..

and its so easy when to assemble any hardware..fix and etc2...becoz im a lazy person...hahah...but maybe temporary only...im planning to buy new casing for my pc...HAF 932 maybe?..ngaaa~~~

wat i can think of are,

1) save space alot!! if you got a simply+small 2 level rack.
top put mobo, btm put psu, hdd, drive, etc.
so, u got a size of ur mobo + 25cm height, cubic vol. for entire rig.
screw 4 roller wheels on btm legs, for easier moving around.

2) can have a ultra short loop for wc setup.

3) for temporary benching, or upgraditis will find it much easier for them.

Fried cicak and lipas!..hehe
Well, if I do have a caseless rig.. it'll be on my table, to reduce the likelihood of cicak or lipas. anyway for my room.. the cicak and lipas usually lepak in the toilet, so i'm quite save. dust is a b****, more mafan to clean..

I'm a used to be Casingless, but for sugestions:

2. no way what so ever to protect it from nature or freakin clumsiness.. you yourself have to be extra careful and try not to eat or drink near your caseless pc....

3. for air flow, I'd have to say it's better actually. I went caseless last time cause I was an active OCer. temps for my Q6600 caseless was as low as it can get without A/C....

4. no need container la. If you want to use container, why don't you use casing instead??? safer... and it's not caseless anymore leh...

5. a) it's great airflow means best for OCing... b) Dusts can get collected faster... seriously faster....

welll... that's my two bit... hope you get the picture... cheers

1)In my computer room

2) Well nothing actually.Lizard wont visiting my PC..maybe my Delta fans make them scared whistling.gif
Even the worst is ant..

3) I think much better?than the casing user.

4) Hmm mostly put ESD plastic cover.EG: Put motherboard on top of the motherboard box.Between the motherboard box and the motherboard,i put the motherboard ESD Plastic..Same for HDD..

5) Well, different people different answer. But for me,yes.Because if you use high dBA fans, the sound wont be so loud.If put in casing the sound is louder than casingless, this is because the sound is trapped inside the case thus making louder sound. But since im using casingless, there's nothing to trap the sound thus bit lower the sound.
EG:The fans actual dBA is 55.08dBA..
if using casingless maybe got around 45.09dBa..(JUST example)..
But yeah, dust is your main enemy now..But since its casingless, its not so hard to clean..Usually maybe Twice a month or once a month..

Your tangan gatal because you wan to take out and put back you hardware is it? With casing also can. Nowadays casing no need to use screw driver also can open the side casing.

1) Where did u place ur casingless pc? eg , in ur room , confined room , living hall, etc..
-> any where as long its on the table..

2) How do you protect ur rig from "disaster" and unwanted trouble. eg. lizards going to ur pc , etc.
-> doesnt care about lizards and insects... care more about housemate ter-spill water only..

3) How is the air flow of casingless pc u think?
->great... using fanless cooling for the proc... doesn't care bout the temp of it as the temp is still ok..

4) Do you buy or use any form of "container" to hold ur component? ( If u do have pls recommend me thanks ) eg. hard disk bezel , motherboard box
->just putting the mobo on top of the mobo box, with a sponge underneath which comes with the mobo box

5) Lastly do you think is casingless is an excellent idea?
->not a bad idea if no one is to come near the com, easier to troubleshoot hardware, test others hardware as i fix com for friends sometime, looks cool too... best if placed in an air-con room coz less dust and using fanless cooling..

Well ah, if you got kids at home, this is a bad idea. My friends PC fried cuz the kid TUANG a glass of water to the PC... Cuz he kinda mad cuz hid brother using the PC and don't give him a chance ... so, a casing can save your life... aha

I don't dare to put it naked as well, cuz the kid at home... He love to spay water at me when he bath... More worst, he open my room's door and... SHIT!!! Water everywhere in my room... doh.gif

1: short the power switch on the mobo (the 2 pin which is supposed to be connected to the case power button)
2:put ur mobo on ur mobo box, or put it above of anti static plastic, or put it above some sponge from the mobo box..

i am currently casingless as my lovely Silverstone TJ07 still modded by uncle ianho. good thing my mobo has power and reset button readily available on the mobo itself, as well as modular power supply. Modular power supply is essential for better cable management. smile.gif

essential??? god no.

it helps a little.....but definitely not essential....more like negligible

ive done better cable management with non-modular compared to modular...both on the same case. heck..the non-modular had even more hardware than the modular

EDIT: forgot to add....

whats TRULY essential for cable management is....

To power on and reset, just find the two pin(refer manual, power on and reset is at different location), just short those 2 pin and released. brows.gif
