New Member Junior Member 19 posts Joined: Mar 2009	Hi Guys.. I am interested to buy a sager maybe from xoticpc. Been thinking about Np5797 with the GTX280M or Np8660 with the GTX260M (have to see my budget 1st.. hahaha).. So I have a couple of questions before buying the sager. 1. Do they provide u with a receipt (printed or writing) as i need it to claim to my company later? Going to use a company laptop to fulfill my most inner desiress..!!! har har harrrrr... .... gaming of course. 2. I heard that sager is upgradable later. It is true? It is hard to assemble it and upgrade it later? 3. What are the specs that i should concentrate on as i have limited budget as to get the full Oo mighty specs. My budget is around Rm8000 including the shipping. 4. Should i get the Intel Turbo Memory as i will be using vista and maybe windows 7 later? 5. If i buy a ram here in Malaysia, it can fit in that sager right? Unless sager have a different out of space modul right? he hhe he... 6. Should I order now or later as it is a back order until end of march for Np5797 and ETA early april for Np8660. Thanks guys... May The Force Be With You... New Member Junior Member 19 posts Joined: Mar 2009	Thanks for 4 kind answers.. Anyway, what's intel turbo memory? I'm new with that thing..haven't heard about it until i came across recently. Is the CPU and graphic card upgradable? I think that matters the most. Bluray.. I thought of buying it course I heard it's like the thing of the future right... Mmm.. since u said it like that...having 2nd thought.. Also, i've never use any laptop bigger than a 15". Is 17" really that heavy? Should i use a bagpack? If needed, which is cheaper and better, that targus beg that come with the order or should i just buy a bagpack here in Malaysia..?

New Member Junior Member 19 posts Joined: Mar 2009	Guys.. want to know what is the different with a solo GC and duo GC? how does it improve the performance..? with the new GTX280, is it better to have a solo GTX280 or duo GC 9xxx series? Not sure where to buy from yet but thinking of buying from xoticpc.com. Or maybe buy a backbone from Rjtech with cpu & graphic card. Survey the price of hardisk & ram here in Malaysia are more cheaper. Thinking of buying NP8662 but might have to let go if not affordable. Ofcourse need a new one with receipt so can claim later. New Member Junior Member 19 posts Joined: Mar 2009	I wouldn't say that he is 'very generous' b'cause he already turn me down on a better specs deal of a laptop. And that it isn't confirm that i get the 6.5k yet. I mean that u have used 2 laptops already and getting a new one which altogether combine would cost almost Rm8k - Rm10k right? Well i'm trying to save his as* and money (if he realise it) by building a laptop that could last longer than others. Not to mention far better than any laptop u can get in Malaysia. All he kept saying is "..bla bla bla..cut less, more profits...". And he said he just bought a Sony laptop only for Rm3xxx ++ for himself. (i know when he said this, he must be wondering why mine cost a lot more than his). i work as a web designer and a little bit less of a programmer at his company. And he's trying to let me work on a stupid laptop.

I would actually say there are only a few high end laptops in malaysia which cost almost the same price or more than the price compare to Np8662. For example Asus G50 cost about Rm6999 which is a bit more than Np8662 and the specs sucks..

If i buy a barebone. the ram & hdd isn't hard to get. But where can get a cpu & graphic cards for notebook in malaysia?

The laptop's GPU, if it is even upgradeable, should be in MXM form factor, High performance laptops have MXM 2.1 type III/IV module. Now with the advent of MXM 3.0 type A/B, I think newer laptops will be using such form factor. I suggest paying mxm-upgrade.com a visit. But even then, having the right form factor is never enough for a laptop GPU, the mobo's bios must recognize the device or else the laptop would 1) not POST 2) display an error regarding the unrecognized mxm device Furthermore, the TDP of a card you want to affix to the laptop must be taken into account, as different types of mxm card has different TDP. Lastly, we have the heat dissipation factor. This is a factor that is not to be taken lightly, even if you DO manage to fit the card in and boot up, but if it's not within the thermal budget of the laptop, it is basically useless as it is unstable and may crash constantly or downclock, whichever comes first, when gaming. Getting mobile CPUs and GPUs are hard. You may be able to buy them from the vendor that is selling you the barebone of a laptop, this is advisable as the vendor knows what is compatible and what is not. Going on E-bay is fine too, a seller called extremeprocessor is famous for selling ES Intel processors. GPUs however, are rare and expensive, The most latest mxm based GPUs are usually not sold individually, but, there might be an exception to foreign websites, which do sell parts of laptops to others. Some require you to be an existing customer of their company and some don't. All in all, if you're staying in Malaysia, I don't really see the point in buying a barebone, with the shipping cost taken into consideration and all that. Thanks for the excellent!! info.. Not that i couldn't get the budget but thinking it is company laptop so i couldn't risk the risk of not having a warranty here. So i had to buy a brand that is Ok here in Malaysia. Bought a Asus N51 at the pc fair today. Hope one day will buy myself a great sager laptop in the future.
