Hi guys, I need ur opinion here.

I am interested in the NP5793 model here with Blue Ray drive somemore and its price tag but I kinda scare of 2 kind of things here.

1) Screen is matte display only instead of glossy despite having a 1900x1200 reso
2) Many review complaint that this is a loud laptop. At least louder than NP8660.

hi Corad,

I need ur advice here as I am quite keen on model NP8660.

Since your lappy is just a 15.4" but you opted for 1920X1200, would it be too small for text reading and internet browsing? Do you need to zoom everytime you surf net or word processing tasks? Why wouldn't you just go for 1680X1040 initially?

yeap, tracking is provided under the USD223. Can track online but its not real time. Lags about a few hours.
Its the NP8662 now smile.gif

In normal usage(email, word processing etc) everything will look the same. Dosent matter if its 1920x1200 or 1280x800

only when it comes to games, the edges will become slightly smoother. I choose that option because its really really troublesome to upgrade the monitor on your own  tongue.gif

Ha, then u wanna upgrade it to GTX260M??

Monitor oso can be upgraded? How?

Blueray is good option as future movies will almost be played in blueray format.

The problem is I have heard some reviews that many are complainning in www.notebookreview.com that having a blueray in sager notebook is useless because their screens are too dim, (many commented that one of the dimmest screen I have ever seen) which you cant enjoy your blueray movies at the fullest.

So, my very last reason to purchase the Sager was gone.

Yes. Single GPU is normally more stable than dual GPUs if you are comparing GTX260M with dual 9800M GS.

Well even if they(xoticpc) do set up a booth in this PC fair without any permanent branch here in m'sia, i believe the laptop price will much more expensive than the price displayed on their website.

This is due to considering transportation(2 way), accomodation and misc costs involved for them to set up a temporary booth here and to bring over the laptops just for our pcfair not to mention other related issues like warranty and risk of uncertain market demand here.

Conclusion = not practical/not possible if they have yet to set up a permanent banch here in m'sia.

At least consumers can feel the lappy, see their physical lappy with their own eyes before placing their orders rite?

o~

I damn scared 30% tax.
30% tax will make me overbudget T.T

I am not sure about this. But I heard b4 from a friend that it will be a good idea if ship to a Spore address (if u have one) then u go to Spore to collect it and when u pass-by M'sia custom as pretend it as ur used laptop. (maybe u can save some tax like this)

But whether is true onot then I dunno, maybe u can do some googling.

It will always be troublesome for someone importing laptops from overseas instead of buying directly here in Malaysia. But seeing M'sia as a lousy 3rd world country, nobody will be interested to act as a reseller for high quality performance gaming laptop.

Wish u good luck and hope you own a sager.

hi guys, couldn't go through all the pages in this thread so hope don't mind me asking a few questions if they've already been covered.

is xoticpc still the best place to buy lappies from? Or do you guys go through a local shipper or something?

and how much would shipping etc. cost?
*
XoticPC some say provide good service, for price, maybe you can google and compare other prices.

The bad side of it is that once ur lappie gets into trouble, u will need to fork out ur own money to transport ur lappie to them.

There are no local supplier as yet. The nearest is Singapore or Jakarta. I think they offer good pricing as well. At least when ur lappie is in trouble, U can bring ur lappie by hand to them and get it done on the spot.
