I actually ordered the NP5793 (since tis model is in promotion and the specs are not bad too...).

The price quoted on their website is actually included everything, (GST, shipping fees, custom duties... i mean everything) from bringing ur laptop from Sager to ur doorstep. Since I order before 15 March 2009, I am entitled to get a free gift somemore, ie a edifier multimedia system (better than nothing la, i think).

I know is a bit expensive by few hundred bucks, but since I am in Spore and I want peace of mind, if anything happens, I can just run to their office doorstep the next morning and receive back my repaired laptop the next day or so.

Ya, and you mentioned about exchange rate... currently the RM to SGD is actually more favourable than RM to USD (correct me if I am wrong).

Seems like my 'remark' works like a charm tongue.gif  hmm.gif .

Which model u are particularly interested in?

Atm the currency exchange rate is kinna high from RM to US dollars so very few(only mid-low end) models will fit in your budget if u plan to buy from xoticpc. sweat.gif
*
haha... The model that I am interested is NP8662... It is $1350.24... convert to MYR is around RM4920.96..
Please don't include the shipping fee or what.... It is still okay for me if it is around 5500 MYR.
I don't think it is possible to pay via installment right>??

Well your budget will be pretty tight drawn if you are planning to go ahead with np8662 and at the very basic spec.

No u can't pay via installment through xoticpc.

Talking about unfair, i'm still waiting and hoping that clevo will release support for D901/900C lolz.

Bro at least your lappie is confirmed able to fully support gtx 280m.

2 months wait is nothing compared to mine as yet to confirm whether able to support it or not.

Felt like endless wait lol.

CLevo, come on and release the bios support for np9262 lol.

yeah, the D901c, i heard about it in the notebookreview forum and was surprised the newest one which is here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=358804

that the notebook D900F will only have single gpu but will support the latest i7 processor... its interesting though...

patient is virtue my friend tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif
perhaps you gotta make a petition for the bios support to gain clevo attention tongue.gif

Hi Guys..

I am interested to buy a sager maybe from xoticpc. Been thinking about Np5797 with the GTX280M or Np8660 with the GTX260M (have to see my budget 1st.. hahaha).. So I have a couple of questions before buying the sager.

1. Do they provide u with a receipt (printed or writing) as i need it to claim to my company later? Going to use a company laptop to fulfill my most inner desiress..!!! har har harrrrr... drool.gif .... gaming of course.

2. I heard that sager is upgradable later. It is true? It is hard to assemble it and upgrade it later? doh.gif

3. What are the specs that i should concentrate on as i have limited budget as to get the full Oo mighty specs. My budget is around Rm8000 including the shipping. hmm.gif

4. Should i get the Intel Turbo Memory as i will be using vista and maybe windows 7 later? brows.gif

5. If i buy a ram here in Malaysia, it can fit in that sager right? Unless sager have a different out of space modul right? he hhe he...

6. Should I order now or later as it is a back order until end of march for Np5797 and ETA early april for Np8660.

Thanks guys...

1. Yeap, the receipt comes with your laptop
2. See 1st post, to me it was as easy as upgrading a desktop smile.gif
3. get what you're happy with. no point getting a blueray drive if you don't have blue ray discs
5. just get the RAM from xoticpc, it'll be cheaper. Unless you can find 2 x 2GB DDR1333 laptop RAM for less than USD60

skipped 4 & 6 , only you can answer that tongue.gif

Thanks for 4 kind answers..

Anyway, what's intel turbo memory? I'm new with that thing..haven't heard about it until i came across recently.

Is the CPU and graphic card upgradable? I think that matters the most.

Bluray.. I thought of buying it course I heard it's like the thing of the future right... Mmm.. since u said it like that...having 2nd thought..

Also, i've never use any laptop bigger than a 15". Is 17" really that heavy? Should i use a bagpack? If needed, which is cheaper and better, that targus beg that come with the order or should i just buy a bagpack here in Malaysia..?

Blueray is good option as future movies will almost be played in blueray format.

The problem is I have heard some reviews that many are complainning in www.notebookreview.com that having a blueray in sager notebook is useless because their screens are too dim, (many commented that one of the dimmest screen I have ever seen) which you cant enjoy your blueray movies at the fullest.

So, my very last reason to purchase the Sager was gone.

Hai.. as agreed, my lappy arrived at my doorstep at 9.30pm just now when I arrive home from work.

Here are some quick snaps while I busy installing programs and games.

The first impression was fanstastic. It comes with a bag, just a normal look bag (not leather made)

The brief review:-
1st boot-up: The 1st boot-up took 50 secs, then 2nd subsequent boot-up 41 secs...
Screen: very bright and outstanding (u will notice it is like a glossy screen despite it is a matte screen)
Build Quilty: Top-notch and secured
Noise level: You cant really hear the noice, it is so low when internet browsing... but haven try gaming (let me try it after I have fully loaded my games 2-3 days later)
Fan: So far so cool in this 3 hrs..
Keyboard: Big-buttons, I think created specifically for gaming
Dead pixel: 1 dead pixel found at near the left bottom corner of the screen, but for me... i dun really care as it is barely noticeable.

Now damn lazy liao to continue my review. Maybe interested guys here can ask me questions then I answer them instead of I write the whole long essay review.

Okay, let me share..

So the sales guys send my lappy to me around 9.30pm... then I took out the system from the un-opened box, we double-check the specs, tools, manuals, CDs, drivers, Windows CD to ensure it correct as per my order. He explain this and that as usual salesman... He told me he will bring the free gift (Edifier) to me this Sat as their shop is out of stock.
After confirm everything, then he left.

For email replies, I dun think it's quite prompt as per XoticPC.. Normally is I write to them today, they will only reply after 20 to 24 hrs..

The good thing I can figure out is perhaps the warranty. My lappy is covered with 3 years warranty:-
1st year: Sager and local warranty
2nd and 3rd year: Local warranty

Is XoticPC only provide 1 year warranty? Extra warranty need to pay?

Hi guys,

Now I need your advice here.

My system is pre-installed with the official Nvidia 179.48 drivers. However, should I install the Laptopvideo2go 185.26 or Dox 185.20 driver?

Thanks

1. Yes

2. Yes but provided Sager support them in their bios.

3. Pick the best screen as they are the hardest thing to upgrade, to be specific, get the WUXGA screen for the NP5797 but as for the NP8660, WUXGA on 15.4" is overkill IMO, stick with the WXGA. Almost all games out there will be playable on the P8400 (Except GTA IV as far as I'm concerned... but don't even bother playing that game on PC), 2GB of RAM is enough for normal use and gaming and Go for the biggest storage.

4. As far as I'm concerned, the answer is no. The ITM 2.0 will shave away a few seconds of startup time of program that you specific but it's driver is far unstable and they don't work on all program under the sun.

5. They are the same provided you get the correct model.

6. I'll recommend you to wait for the 260/280M GTX.

There performance is around 150% +- depending on how well a certain game scale on multiple gpu.

The 280M GTX itself is just a smaller, faster 9800M GTX but no, 9800M GT SLI and onwards will out perform a single 280M GTX provided the game supports SLI. Not sure about GS and GTS though.

Personally I did not notice any performance increase in either side. So I'm sticking with Nvidia one.

Try search around in notebookreviewforum or google and please don't take what I said as guaranteed smile.gif .
