before this, i am seriously considering to leave Alienware and move on to Sager due to GTX480M SLi's poison. but after going through the review, i think i will love Alienware moar.

Review @ http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Devilt...ok.37414.0.html

Desktop variant CPU : work perfectly. its quite overkill to be honest. and cause autoshutdown during full stress.

GTX480M SLi : tessellation monster. emitting heat and sound like a monster too. even its been described as "Very high system noise", means that it does loudy. crash during full stress too, due to insufficient power supply.

5 speakers + Subwoofer (5.1) : very bad quality. subwoofer effect is very minimal. reviewer describe "doesn't even come close to the sound qualities of Toshiba's Qosmio X500, Asus' G73 or Alienware's M17x."

3 Slots of HDD : future proof. nothing bad about this, except ripping your pocket more.

Keyboard : describes as very good in term of quality and wideness. but not backlited - major disadvantage for me.

other obvious and predicted fact : bigass adapter, battery life duration, weight (roughly same compared to M17x), price and thickness.

so my personal conclusion; if it keep crashing during full load, why on earth i buy it? means that i should lower down the setting and games quality so that the stress will be lower - to prevent from autoshutdown. i might go for ATi HD5870 CrossFire or GTX285M SLi (heck, even my GTX280M SLi is still competitive) compared with i buy GTX480M SLi but need to lower it down.

so no wonder why Alienware still don't release their M17x with GTX480M SLi update. maybe they are somehow working to solve those problem. for me, i would allow another one more year to see what Nvidia able to do about this before spending my dime.

just sharing my thought here tho, smile.gif

There's advantage towards the system actually... Fully PCI-e x16 2.0 utilized coz the board itself is a pure x58 chipset.
Still weight and heat is a big issue.

i do note that the board is pure x58, and yet, the main disadvantage is you can't fully archive what you suppose to achieve! once you stress the system, its goes crash. quite a shame if you want to braggin your specs with your fellow friend and its autochutdown during gaming lol, for example.

its really premature release for me. Nvidia and laptop manufactures really should consider this matter before taking those steps. i can be tolerate IF the problem is somehow related to drive (such as ATi HD5870 CrossFire), but when it comes to something physical like this, how possible for you to fix it? sad.gif

true... gtx 480m + core i7 980x heat are melting the system. Maybe its about time they create water cooling desktop replacement laptop. brows.gif

Guess the cooling system is still not enough? But then again, who would FULLY STRESS their system. No game in the world can fully stress a system like that (as far as I know, unless you run multiple instances of it). The only things possible are the progs that are designed to reallyyyyyy stress your system out and that's where we'll see the temps start to get crazy and the laptop to auto-shutdown.

I haven't gone through the review yet but will update this post when I do. tongue.gif

My question now is, when is Mucro gonna update their website with the NP5135. Suggesting it to a friend and he's not really keen on getting it from XoticPC. laugh.gif I wonder if the price of the 5135 would be the same as the 5125 because they are similar.

Configured this on XoticPC:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Total Price: $959 (without shipping) | $1159 (with $200 shipping) = RM 2970.02 & RM 3,589.42 respectively.

Between that and the Asus A42JA. Which would be better for gaming?

Take a look at http://www.gentechpc.com/. They have nearly identical prices with xoticpc, but WIN in the shipping fee smile.gif I now use them instead of xoticpc for this reason, cuts about 50-100USD off the bill

With Asus you get warranty, Sagers are trickier depending on who you buy from.

But right now, with the way Asus is overtaking everyone else in the gaming scene (AW,Sager,Toshiba etc) , I would lean ever so slliigghhhttllyyy towards the Asus.

That leaves HD5870m in potential threat, as it fills in GTX 460m and 470m gap. doh.gif
