Hi guys. I've upgrade from 1.1.4 to firmware 2.1 yesterday. I noticed it is kinda slow compared to 1.1.4. For an example, to type a message, i would have to wait 2-3 seconds for it the load me the message application. This goes to other applications too. And, due to the fast upgrade, I've lost all my previous SMSes, photos and others. Is there anyway for me to retrieve them back? 1 more question, i notice there isnt many things available for download in Cydia. Do I have to add more sources like in Installer in order to have more things to download? Sorry for the questions, I'm quite new to iPhone

the slow prob only appear when u in cydia(where it busy updating packages) & while surf via wifi

your SMSes, photos and others cant be retrieve back unless you make backup before restoring.

and yes, FW 2.1 is still new, that's why in cydia it have less apps compare to cydia in 1.1.4.

upon restoration from 1.1.4 to 2.1, did you create as a new phone (because i'm not too sure what you mean by fast restore) or from backup?

that's the problem then.

i did full restore.. its normal the sms lag.. sometimes the preferences also same. slow
just have to wait 2.2 lor.. hope they fixed.. remember hope*

i would recommend u for easiest way to backup

juz have openSSH installed, ssh into Private/Mobile/Library and copy all folder like addressbook, sms, notes out before doing a restore if u plan to upgrade firmware next time

den when done, juz paste back and all your contacts n sms still there, this is my way of backup.
i do think dis way the fastest though.

for me lagging... have to wait for a coupe of sec... or when u end a call it turns to batt save mode.... or any other flaws....

as long as u can cope with it.... im happy of wht i have now....
lets just wish tht 2.2 will eliminate most of the bugs on 2.1.

but overall.... im a happy iphoner!

camera is one of the buggy.

sometime the picture you snap become jigsaw puzzle when you review it.
