Found a interesting HSF although it isn't a passive one. The Thermaltake Pipe101. Tons of review showing the features and the performance. Full copper with heat pipes, something telling me that this could be the chosen one. Who knows? Any more recommendation from all sifu and pro here?

Your HTPC is SFF or ATX HTPC case???
Anyway lah,if ever intend to passive cool, airflow is important Go and plan how the fan to be place in case before you think of HSF |

dude, thats a mighty big hard disk. hurm..
but more airflow means cooler PC temp. maybe u can put soundproofing material in ur casing to dampen the noise.. if its making too much noise.. |

Despite using passive cooling, you would need a casing with intake and exhaust fan right?
I suggest Aopen G326 - look for rockrock It's less than RM200 and you can attach a big fan at the back |

If you want absolute zero noise, the solution is use HDX 1000 NMT and connect through LAN to your network storage (in closet). I had setup few HTPC and you would spent quite a lot on silent setup. Even that I would say min you need 2 fan, one for intake, one for out.

seriously.. wat is the FULL spec of ur htpc??
wat casing? wat mobo? wat cpu? wat wat wat wat wat wat?????? u want a passive cooler for ur cpu...simple... Scythe Ninja. but can it fit ur casing? we dunno coz u never told us ur full specs. SO GIVE FULL SPECS oh and FYI, active can still be pretty silent. i have 4 fans in my htpc and i can barely hear it running. the only way i know its running is to feel the rear exhaust fan. u can still have active cooling with a silent setup. |
