May I know what's the first game that requires 3.3 firmware? The reason I'm asking is I play imported games using Free Loader and I heard this has been disabled with 3.3 firmware (not sure really). I'd be so sad spending so much on imported games and one day cannot play anymore sad.gif

Note: This is a complete different topic from the locked one, hope this is one is approved.

Chronically you could see by Nintendo released games, then every subsequent 3rd party game will follow the suit, to include the latest firmware on their discs.

So I *think* 3.3 was out during MK Wii. 3.2 for Super Mario Galaxy..

Ok ok, thanks. Luckily my SMG is my last Wii game purchased for the same region as my console. I'll update it soon (haven't opened the game yet since the day I bought it). Have to get another region Wii if that's the case for newer games.

Region lock is so annoying sad.gif

PS: Luckily my SNES doesn't need update, still can play Super Mario Collection (if YOU get what I mean tongue.gif)

A note on freeloader, I want to get one myself. It's only the system update that preventing me from buying it.

So is it true freeloader will be disabled on 3.3 onwards?

do most Wii games force a system update before play? i won't really know as i presently only have about 4 Wii games and only Okami required an update to 3.2u before play.

this is actually good, it keeps the pirates at bay hopefully....

If it's for piracy it's ok, but if it's for crippling competition by disabling imports then I'm all against it.

Freeloader is a boot up disc that allows you to play games from other regions. This apparently has been disabled with 3.3 firmware. Can check your firmware through Wii's system information in the main menu

is there a thread in Ninty here which detail what each system update does to the Wii?

because ever since i updated to 3.3u, i have been noticing some subtle changes to how my Wii behaves.... the disc tray used to light up in neon blue right after i boot a NGC/Wii game. now it doesn't anymore, i don't know if my memory is failing me but i could swore it used to in the past.

Hate updates whatsoever. If it's not broken, why fix it?

Just sounds fishy ... same like astro

well... bad news for HBC supporters out there

3.4 update is out, and it's out to kill HBC
those system with 3.4 updates won't be able to install HBC anymore, same with .wad installation

But those with HBC already installed is safe, but it's likely you won't be able to install any new .wad files

No sure if it will kill the modchip tho...

it's funny how understanding all this piracy lingo is a good indication of whether u are into it or not....
gundam u totally fail bro!

does most Wii games come with a patch to install the required firmware? i wish Sony would implement it too so i don't have to download it online all the time.... it's so much more convenient when it comes with the game. what do u guys think?

I thought all games comes with the patch to upgrade to the required firmware isn't it? I never upgrade firmware online before, all of them are done via the softwares that come with the games, PSP, PS3, Wii and 360.

hmm not ps3 games as far as i know.... which is not terribly essential since the games don't required firmware update to play but nice to have since u dont need to log into PSN to update.

Are you sure? If it's ori and the same region as your Wii console then the only reason for it not working is bad disc
