If it's keratosis pilaris, u need a lot of moisturiser + diluted retinoid cream at night. They definitely work, if your diagnosis is correct.

Dont know any doc in KL. Maybe u can buy some Retin-A (the lowest strength) and apply at night for a few months.. and it;s going to be very costly if u have to apply to a large area.. becareful of skin sensitivity, that's why always use the lowest strength first.

I'm sorry to hear about it. Actually there are a lot of factors that can trigger eczema. It could be the environment factor or the food you take. Those thing that trigger eczema we call it allergen. When this allergen get into your body, your body cannot accept it, so it will trigger your immune system to fight it as an enemy and finally lead to eczema. Usually for those who have family history of asthma, they are prone to eczema condition. Before i continue with some information to handle eczema, i need to know wheter your girl friend has undergo an allergy test so called Skin prick test. This test will identify types of allergen that the patient should avoid. Usually, if possible, please avoid the allergen in class 2 and above. Patient can get the proper diet advice from a registered dietician.

Basically, beside getting the treatmet from a doctor, I recommend you to seek for some supplement that can help your girlfriend. Basically, those who have low probiotic level inside the body is one of the main reason that trigger eczema. Once your probiotic level is low, your body immune system is weaken and this easily lead to eczema problem. As a dietician, i recommend you to seek for live probiotic or nutritional yeast that could help your girlfriend. There are a lot of brand in the market but please look for those who really work. As a professional, i know that i should give some research to support what I said.

If I may, I would to clarify something u mentioned...
Skin Prick Test is only helpful in certain types of eczema, especially allergic contact dermatitis because the condition is allergic in origin.
Asthma is closely associated with Atopic Eczema, and this is the type commonly happens to family members as it's genetically associated, like asthma.

There are preliminary result showing probiotics may have potential benefits on the following problems, Helicobacter pylori infestation, antibiotics associated diarrhoea, irritable bowel syndrome lactose intolerance, prevention of colon cancer etc.

However there are also studies indicating the following problems with probiotics increased death rate for severe acute pancreatitis, increase likelyhood of allergens sensitivity in children and septicaemia by lactobacilli in very ill patients.

So far there is no published evidence probiotics can replace natural intestinal flora (good bacteria) which have been killed off. As a matter of fact, the probiotics taken can only last a few days in the intestine.
