hello guys, I was wondering what is the maximum penalty for driving without any licence plate?

My friend has a Celica, and he doesnt wanna put any licence plate at the front as its not pretty..

From what he told me, if you get stopped by the police, the maximum saman is RM70?

Worst case senario, the car might be hauled to Puspakom to check every part number to comply with the the registration card to confirm the plate number and pay everything for services rendered. Since your friend is very high classy sure he wont mind paying those. Y not fix a cheap number plate and go about until he finds a design he fancies, sure would be cheaper and less hassles in the long run.

Tell your friend.
It's just a CELICA. yawn.gif doh.gif (Ingatkan kete hebat ape?) Obey the rulez, or face the rulez. shakehead.gif

Even I see those driving and owning ASTON Martin in Malaysia, which is 10-15x more expensive than Celica, still displays their number plate, and it's single-digit number plate probably cost as much as a brand new Perodua VIVA.

I think better to follow the rules. Even if RM70 only, can afford to pay everyday?

Malaysian Traffic Police Summons menu (Price List).

Price quoted below are nett without further discount, bargaining are subject to price increase without further notice.

Speeding:
Exceeding 1 - 20km/h = Rm130 + 4 demerit points.
Exceeding 21 - 30km/h =Rm150 + 6 demerit points.
Exceeding 31 - 40km/h = Rm180 + 8 demerit points.
Exceeding 41 - 50km/h = >Rm200 + 12 demerit points + Court.
Exceeding 51 - 60km/h = >Rm200 + 18 demerit points + Court.
Exceeding >61km/h = >Rm200 + 24 demerit points + Court.

If you want to be a hero and fight the court case yourself, and you lose, you pay the court charges yourself, which wil add up to your fine. I guess the court charges is at least Rm200 and above.

Careless driving = Rm150 + 6 demerit Points.

Inconsiderate Driving = Rm170 + 9 Demerit Points + Court.

Dangerous Driving = >Rm200 + 24 Demerit Points + Court + Vehicle Compounded.

Illegal Racing = >Rm200 + Vehicle Confiscate + Court.

Fail to put Seat Belt = Rm120 + 3 demerit points.

Crossing Double White lines = Rm130 + 4 points.

Phone and Drive = Rm200 + 12 demerit point + Phone Confiscate.

Do not hold your handphone in your hand when you drive even with loud speaker or ear piece, use it as handsfree.

Drink Driving:
For the first offence = Up to Rm5000 Fine And, or jail Term + Licence Suspended + Court.
For the second time offence = Jail term + Fine + Court.

Making an illegal U Turn when there's no U Turn sign = Rm70.

Fail to Signal when changing lanes = Rm70.

Driving at night without headlights or taillights switch on after 7pm = Rm30.

No Number Plate = Rm70.

Obstructed Number Plate = Rm70.

Obscured Number Plate = Rm70.

Number Plate Of Unapproved Type = Rm70.

So I guess its RM 70 right?
