there are fake leather which is softer to the feel and dissipate heat faster then genuine leather. IMHO when coming to upholstery it's personal preference.

IMO
pros :
leather can easily clean up.
looks more executive
cons:
harder than fabric.
very hot in sunny days.
if u're seat's not at least semi bucket,it's uncomfortable bcoz ur ass will be moving around when taking corners..

Leather all the way for me. I find it more comfortable, luxurious, smells better and easier to clean.

As for concerns about heat: that's what V-Kool/3M/Llumar/etc tinting + sunshade (if necessary) + air-cond is for.

I have parked my car (V-Kool tint) under the hot mid-day sun for hours without a sunshade, and while it was hot, with the aircond, it cooled down quite fast. And it wasn't as hot as one of my previous rides which was very very hot (no tinting, sunshades fixed, fabric seats).

For me, I prefer fabric seats. Why so?

Fabric seats;
1) Doesn't slip when you take corners
2) Not hot under hot sun!
3) However it's not waterproof
4) More colours yes! Funky ones too
5) Dusty sad.gif

Leather seats;

1) Slippery when you take corners
2) Exclusive look!. Not too many colours available
3) Hot under the sun
4) Waterproof!

rm8k for regular sedan, you can get a real good quality leather that only traps less than 50% heat compared to the full/semi leather seats.

For me, I prefer fabric seats. Why so?

Fabric seats;
1) Doesn't slip when you take corners 10kmph during corner?
2) Not hot under hot sun! Try direct sunlight on the seat or hours, it burns!!!
3) However it's not waterproof Hmm... yes, but City is waterproof, but never say is coffee or vomit or oil proof.
4) More colours yes! Funky ones too Leather don't have blue, fabric don't have white. All colors in between beige and black is available on leather.
5) Dusty sad.gif  Yeah

Leather seats;

1) Slippery when you take corners Bucket leather seats!!
2) Exclusive look!. Not too many colours available Explained above.
3) Hot under the sun Same as fabric - very hot. But fabric trap heat longer, leather cool faster.
4) Waterproof! Beware of leather with large breathing hole.

Planning to get the new Honda accord. Same technology available on that car?

Slipping-I get when ride the Perdana V6 in corners, I don't really like that.
The cracking in leather seats is because you don't polish it? I heard that maintaining leather seats is harder than fabric seats. Need to wipe all the time or something compared to fabric just vacuum.

I ain't sure abt the price, I think it's vary and depends on material quality.. some leather seat is "hard" as fxxk, much worser than normal fabric seats...
leather seat is very uncomfortable IF the weather is hot. For instance, my back sweating when I was driving for hours at night...

Where I park is open-air parking, so my car under the sun kao kao. Leather seat will burn my ass + eventually probably crack due to the heat. And I agree leather not good for long distance driving, back becomes very sweaty.

sometimes I don't get it what's the point of purchased "highest spec" car in Malaysia.. our weather is damn hot... it's kinda no point to force consumers take leather seat in this country sad.gif

Yup, something like, I used to know those Rolls Royce, Jaguar, Aston Martin vintage all had the famed Connoly leather. After many years, all of them crack up and become unsightly. Maybe last longer in temperate climate but not Malaysia, the weather here will roast anything inside the car. If with leather seats, you have to take care more than ever and never park it often in the hot sun. Maybe modern tinting may help but still damn hot here in Malaysia, unless you live in Cameron Highlands. I recall my towkay boss RR Silver Shadow..the leather seats?..I think my cheap car seats look much much better...LOL!

I preferred to have "slightly discount" to take off those leather seat in new car that's under "highest spec", it's not because of the money but leather seat is a big no in Malaysia.. it's like paid to be "tortured" by the car seats rclxub.gif

Some car comes with combination of leather and fabric. The seating part is fabric while the side is leather. Honda HRV and Ford Focus Sport come with this kind of seat. I not sure after market got or not.

CX5 leather seat is too hard to my liking. I opted for fabric and save the 3k. No regrets so far.

I want the "highest spec" of paddle shift and etc.. (gonna buy Honda City or Suprima S) but I knew leather seat is "disaster" for long distance driver... sweaty back like playing hours of futsal sweat.gif
pls get rid of leather seat (or offered it as optional kit), it's really not suitable for long distance drivers in Malaysia...

I think depends on some leather and people combination. Mine also leather but no sweaty issue on long distance driving. Park under hot sun, open air conditioner and open all windows, in a minute or two didn't feel hot anymore.

If the leather you are sitting on doesn't cool down fast then its not leather la. Leather suppose to stabilise the temp faster with ur skin. I like only leather. Its mostly black, looks luxurious, easy to clean, smells nice, cool when u on the AC and chicks like cars with leather seats.

Those who say fabric is better are those people who probably can't afford leather seats or cars with leather seats. Easy.
