i apologize for opening a new thread for my question. but i cant search for the similar thread.
my question:
can i use my friend's windows vista cd to install on my computer BUT i activate using my own license key?

You can do so...if your license key is compatible with your vista version. And make sure its genuine key.

It depends. . . some OEM O/S special make for certain manufacturer/brand one (e.g: Dell, Acer, Hp...etc), the CD key won't work one those normal OEM CD we get from PC shop one, or vise versa. . .

Yup agree..coz usually Branded pc got their own CD/DVD OS installer..BTW u can try it 1st and c izzit ok or not..

Sorry to disturb, but is it true that if i upgrade windows vista to sp1, i can run most of the winXP software and games?

Yes, definitely you can share the CD/DVD used to install Vista. The Vista installer media is considered a trial (you can install 30days trial if you didn't enter a valid product key in Setup) so there's no need to worry about it, what's matter most to Microsoft is that you're using a valid product key to install Vista.

its better to redownload all the drivers as the drivers come with Vista might not be very complete even though they are enough to run your system...
