Okay there is too many ppl asking me about the terms used, there seems to be alot of loose terminology being used around the forum.

Here is the Basic that everyone should know!

Bank = an entity (i belive) is governed by Bank Negara.

Investment Bank = an entity governed by Bursa and regulated by SC, BNM is like side show bob deals with limited matter.

------------------------------- Working Structure --------------------------------------

Normally an investment bank is govern by 3 different depts.

1. The front office -

Remisers/Dealer Rep/Future Broker (irrespective of Salaried or Commission), this bunch of ppl get to meet client, ket in order etc...

2. The middle office -

Compliance turf, this hrybird dept floats between the front & the back office. AKA the enforcers.

Risk Management/Credit Risk, they determine the credit limit your entitled to.

Legal - determines legal aspect of matters

3. The Back office-

Operations - Clearing Member etc.. seats here

Accounts/Finance - Deals with all the money! Settlement related issues.

---------------------------------------New Development -----------------------------------------

As of 27th Sep 2007, the Capital Market Service Act 2007 which obliterated/merged (whatever you want to call it) Futures Industry Act, Securities Industry Act and parts of the Securties Commission Act.

According to the Licensing Hankbook...

License matters for everyone's infomation is regulated by Securities Commission. So if your Investment Bank Screw up or your Remisier/Dealer Rep/ FBR is trying to pull a fast one on you, go to them.

CMSL (Capital MArket Service License Holder) holders = only for Investment Bank

CMSRL (Capital Market Service Representative License Holder) holders = Remisiers/ Dealer Rep/ Futures Broker/ Fund Manager ....etc fall into this category.

Remisiers or not they r bloody useless, unless they know their stuff and constantly feed you with useful materials on the market and economy. They just sit on their A$$ and key in order, which everyone else can do using online trading.

I think in the future we will find that remisiers r a rare breed and being phased out by the Exchange, so called to phase out the middle man whose been takin a cut from the Exchange.

Anyway thats my take.

We should responsible on whatever decision we make since we are adult already. We jsut cannot blame on other everytime you make a mistake. You cannot improve that way. Well remisier job is not to feed you with all tips. If they really so good in investing... do you think they need to be a remisier? So normally is the greed of a person that make them get killed in stock market. sweat.gif

remisier needs to pay deposit to get their margin before they assigned to customers. If customer lost a lot and cant repay, they are in trouble to collect the money. Besides that will reduce their margin to customer as well... so they do take risk, in a way that you are not aware of.

Dealer reps are paid by company, so the stock broking firm is taking the risk.
