Last time, there was a news that PhysX can be supported in ATI.
Until now, still no news for that yet. -pWs- |

PhysX is Nvidia asset right? and today games such Crysis have physX effect... i thought crysis dun use physX? dey use their own physic engine, correct me if i'm wrong. So can i get the physX effect when using ATI? games like UT3 support physX. i dun think physX will bring much performance boost for now. if u already hav a powerful enough CPU, den u dun need the GPU 2 do the calculation. dis will benefit more if u hav lower CPU. I lol'ed, considering that PS3 is using IBM's processor, which was ditched in favour of Intel in the Mac :3
Anyways, we have to wait and see, as not many games support phsx, and nVidia might not want to give it to their nearest rival. |

IBM wasn't ditched in favour of Intel. It was the other way round. IBM simply couldn't care about the MAC...when you monopolized the market for all 3 next gen console, which will amount to tens of millions each year in CPU quantity alone. This in turn piss off Steve Jobs who then 'ditched' IBM becoz IBM is simply ignoring their requests and not willing to negotiate with Apple and rather focus their resources on the big console contracts. After all, how many MACs can you sell a year?? LOL. PS3, XBOX360 and WII all has "IBM inside"...with different varietys.. This post has been edited by Matrix: Oct 11 2008, 05:37 PM |

QUOTE(Angel of Deth @ Oct 11 2008, 05:57 PM) I think this Physx thingy is not crucial and absolutely not a necessity for most of the people out there.... Thinking back about Ageia Physx Card, the card itself didn't gain any profits for them because the card is simply not a neccesity for people... Nvidia and ATi has specialties of their own, Nvidia got CUDA and ATi, well their HD4xxx and HD3xxx are quite successful due to their performance and low budget price compared to Nvidia,,,,, BTW, no offense though... physx makes you fun when gaming.
just like crytek using their own physx to make crysis . so nvidia physx don't support all games , a few. you support ati then buy ati , support nvidia then give them a try. just get your 4870 dude , dont think about physx bla bla. its overkilled now. |

most of new games nowadays got their own physX built in via engine...
so what the hell physX for....? for marketing purposes of course... just get the HD 4870 monster, you won't regret it... |

PhysX can't even run decent on a SINGLE card.
You almost always need another backup, of which should be at least a 8800GT. |

Or is it possible to use SLi board or any 2 slot PCI-E x16 board and use ATi card as primary and put nvidia card on the second slot for physx? Coz i had a tough time last time considering to buy a 4870X2 or GTX280. But i get the GTX280 in the end =_="" .
P/S : my GTX280 is faulty zzzzz too damn hot for 1 minute of gameplay reaching 105c......... need to exchange it. |
