I'm a newbie, no a noob in this field. So please bear my insightful question. I went to a site with my "master" to fix the problem stated in the title: UBS accounting suddenly revert back to Edu purpose. Yeah, License activated previously. Blurred. Master managed to solve the problem: By: 1. Insert the Server IP. Thus, here's my no-details-clueless-unimaginable question...why do the software needed the Server IP to activate the license key? <<Edited: UGH WRONGLY ASKED. SORRY!!!>>Master and me both are clueless. In a rush, got to go. Sigh...sorry. <<Edited(above situation are not detailed, sorry): Now I have more time. Lets continue.
1. A Single-User with no Internet connection Client purchased UBS acc from a dealer 7 months ago. License activated said Client. 2. The UBS acc was working fine untill 9 days ago. The License has reverted back to Educational Purpose. 3. Oddly enough, Client claimed to have adsolute no ideas of thousands why. 4. Thus, Master tried to solve it. Upon many trials, he've figured out 2 things to solve the case completely...maybe.
Inserted Server IP in the Selection List Setting and the Activated License came back. Removed "." from the List.>>This post has been edited by AmHunter: Oct 11 2008, 08:27 AM

Master and me both are clueless. In a rush, got to go. Sigh...sorry. You should refer to UBS for support, provided that the UBS software is genuine and is purchased legally. It is quite common to see software in the market be activated to a license manager server located remotely. Just like Windows products need to be activated online through Windows Genuine Advantage activation servers at Microsoft sites. This post has been edited by eclectice: Oct 10 2008, 08:51 PM

It is because UBS latest version 9.3 now require online key generation to get UBS to function as full features application instead of Education (trial) version. The website you have mentioned should be UBS key activation portal only for dealer / master dealer.
As for each and every client install for UBS, the client version will check against the license key / port from the UBS main "server" which they (the UBS programmer team) choose to use IP address for verification.
I believe you and your so-called master are UBS dealers and you should refer back to either UBS or master dealer directly for further explaination.

Thanks for the help. We're not dealers, btw.
Can it be done without a link to the UBS remote server? Seriously, I don't know, anything could happen in computer world.
ps: I'm a learner, "master" is guiding me. Not that O-wise Master, thus the quotation used. Lol, don't you so-called "master".

Nothing can be done as UBS wanted it that way, which I don't seems to like it as it isn't once-set-forget settings. Hopefully they will try to "understand" other method of verification instead of using that crude method.
Btw, I'm not a dealer or UBS inside man as well. Just some experience with UBS software anomalies.

However, why does it needs the Server IP(192.188.1.1 I think this is keyed randomly) when there's no connection to a network or the internet?
ps: Nice, wish I am as experienced as you.

According to my "sources", they need the IP for verification through a port. So basically, it will look for the IP address and then through the specific port to verify.
Can't really recall what port number as well. It is a static port which cannot be changed.
