QUOTE(seanlel @ Apr 19 2009, 08:02 PM)
I started to train myself for the stanChart run in June. Normally I just run for 30 minutes on treadmill, but today I run for 52 minutes. The total distance that I had completed is 7.45KM... Then I feel quite tired.

I started worry whether I can finish 10KM with the time limit of 90minutes... All the experts here, what do you think?
*
you're on the right track & you still have 2 months till the run and you can already reach 7.45 whats another 2km more? even if you walk you'd be able to complete the remaining 2Km but try not lah.

and also do include run's on normal roads, as you need to get your body used to the impact of running on hard surfaces, increase your mileage gradually 5 km for 1 week's then another 1km and so on till you can clock in 10k or try running alternates but make sure that your accumulated distance for that week is reaches 10k E.G

Mon: 2k
Tuesday : Rest / Strength Training
Wednesday :3k
Thursday : Rest / Strength Training
Friday : Rest
Saturday : 5k >
Sunday : Rest

also try to vary your training by doing some strength training, do some weights and if possible try hiking up a hill to build up your lung capacity..and by no time you'll feel that you want to run longer biggrin.gif

devil/triple/cube/navil/marvin/etc. - let say, we are doing normal 10k run, do we land on the heel OR land flat on the shoe?

what is the lifespan of your shoe? I read in phoenix blog that he only decided to retire his Nike sumthing after like close to 800km.....
*
hey tengster, it doesnt matter the distance, its recommended that you land on your forefoot rather than your heel, as the impact on your knees will be less. here's link from where you can refer to, its from Newton Shoes but its insightful nonetheless...

http://www.newtonrunning.com/run-better/optimal-running-form

I personally try to land on my forefoot but its easier said than done laugh.gif i land on my midsole between the forefoot and heel fyi smile.gif

QUOTE(navilink @ Apr 26 2009, 03:29 PM)
not so good luck in bidor run.. sad.gif stayed at the hall for the night, really don't have a good sleep coz of the hard surface.. before run stomach stirring, wanted to go toilet but the queue is longer than waiting bus rclxub.gif so no choice had to run in deep sh*t.. literally..

after ran, get the medal and cert and gift pack, but when put aside on the corridor and go car took something, my medal and cert and gift pack gone sad.gif damm my first 21km and no medal.. sien

the only good news is that managed to clock about 2hr10min in the run, beyond my expectation, given my target about 2hr30min and lack of sleep... and given the damm hilly route going towards the waterfall...
*
wow! congrats on your run Navi! its indeed an experience though...always worry of crapping during any runs laugh.gif thats a good time for your first 21km! any other half's lined up?

QUOTE(Sky.Live @ Apr 26 2009, 08:20 PM)
sorry i am quite new to running, can i actually ask how do you breath when you run? through your mouth or nose or both? both on exhaling and inhaling.

I am not sure if it is posted before, just started to run recently
*
it depends on whats your comfort level, i normally inhale and exhale thru' my mouth i know a few who does it thru' the nose, but yeah i feel that tend to inhale more and and make less effort when i inhale and exhale thru my mouth, and dont worry much once you start running more frequently you'll know which one is more easier

Well, yeah, the 10K route I'm doing now near my home includes some good climbs, there's one about 400m long & at about 8-9% incline I reckoned. & the 5K route I'm doing in Putrajaya is a rolling terrain, near Wisma Putra there. & I'm doing some hillsprints as well, heard that the PACM NB route is quite hilly...

I watched the London Marathon repeat yesterday, boy, Sammy Wanjiru... towards the end, like mile 24-25, he was still doing 4:50/mile pace. Damn !!
*
yeah NB15K route is quite the hills, so better train for it hard..its less than 2 weeks away!

This is a question to all you guys doing runs of 20km+/day.....

What's your diet like? You take in lots of carbs?
What's your estimated daily calorie intake?
*
the best thing about running is that just make sure you properly eat no need to worry about the calorie intakes, since you gonna burn it off during your run

me breakfast, is Oats & Banana, Lunch - rice+meats, dinner i take light capati biggrin.gif thats it

QUOTE(d3vilzzzz @ May 8 2009, 02:26 PM)

well..i asked this ques before
and was answered at that time by phoenix "It is not recomended"
reason being when you do your LSD it is a relatively longer distance then your usual training so give ur muscles rest; at least a day before your LSD
it is nt too say nt possible as sometimes i do it because some days me nt free to run so no choice end up running on the day before me LSD..
sometimes i do 10km, sometimes 12km, 14km...
i do suppose HOWEVER if u hv been resting 2 days before then u run fri, then LSD sat..it is nt too bad...
BUT like me if it is a tues, thurs, fri then LSD on Sat or Wed, Thurs, Fri then LSD on sat..ur legs would definitely feel fatigue..i knw mine did tongue.gif
hence nw i try to put make fri a rest day before me LSD..no point running if your form is crap laugh.gif
*
laugh.gif thanks lots d3vilzzzz yeah i guess its better to rest up before doing an LSD but still damn keat la u running 3 days in a row then following day LSD...training going to go into overdrive starting from next Monday! flex.gif

Updates on Polar watches

I went to the official distributor for Polar watches yest (yes there is an official distributor unlike what was stated by Davis) and was told this;

1. The new FT series is nt replacing the RS, RS -SD model
2. Via this shop/ official distributor purchases can be made for any polar watches
available on the official polar website

3. Support/ troubleshooting is also provided for all watches so long as they are available on the official polar website

Thank you Phoenix for correcting me laugh.gif

Ps. To all the runners in this thread I just want to inform you guys that if you need my help in purchasing or sending your watches for a repair
plz let me knw as the place is kinda dwn the road for me, at no extra costs of course.
*

QUOTE(metalfreak @ May 18 2009, 09:46 AM)
Bad for me...really bad. My cramps was the worst one ever experienced so far.

I couldn't move, quickly sat down. Basket no one stopped to help even though they ran by but Thank God, 1 good Samaritan helped me (the foot bending thingy).

Both my legs......my calves just went inwards like a pond...or whatever u describe it. f***ing painful. That was just like 100 meters before the finishing funnel.

The photographer, Jason Lee came over to take our pictures  laugh.gif  "Relax relax, smile....relax awhile..don't worry almost finishing *clicks camera* "

I made my way slowly towards the line with that guy and of course, lari sikit sikit for the finishing pose.  flex.gif
So my question is, how to overcome cramps? Training? 1 Uncle said take 2 bananas before the run because potassium helps us to be able to run longer.
*
wat cramps bro? leg cramps or stomach cramps?

stomach cramps can be solved by doing lots and lots of core workout. i assume you'd know this since you've been running for sometime

legs cramps personally ive never experienced during my runs only after a LSD run can feel cramps...stomachs yes

i saw the pics woah really nice medals thumbup.gif
