system with 512 MB of RAM (the minimum for Windows Vista) can see significant gains from ReadyBoost.[6] In one test case, ReadyBoost sped up an operation from 11.7 seconds to 2 seconds (increasing physical memory from 512 MB to 1 GB reduced it to 0.8 seconds)

only 512ram can see lor

I tried it before, it needs to wait quite a long time for the readyboost to work after you plugged your pendrive. Hard drive light will blink rapidly after you start the readyboost and you need to wait it back to normal then it will start the real boost.
The more size you set, the longer you have to wait.

And ya, 2GB ram can only feels a little, almost like none. But better if you get more RAM coz readyboost is like for low RAM use only....
once you got more ram like 4GB, then you'll feel that readyboost hinder the system performance.

That is what i experinced. smile.gif

It does work , if you have like a gigabyte of RAM. You would notice that the system preforms much more snappier

Try using Firefox and open 15-20 tabs

my sister using PC Vista Home Basic with 512MB RAM.
that computer really laggy and dead slow.
then i used Ready Boost with 2GB thumb drive, to see whether it will have any effect but almost no difference in performance.
now i bought 2GB RAM module for her and now her PC is flying (snappier and faster).

theorically Ready Boost can speed up your computer by reducing the time computer assessing the hard disk
but in real life Ready Boost is almost useless.

if you have extra money in your pocket better buy more RAMs to speed up your computer.

better shell out extra RM for RAM than cheap thumbdrive, just get it real. Thumbdrive is used for data storing, not for prefetch or something like that, not even worth it...

if your computer have only 512mb RAM, you should be using XP in the first place. whistling.gif
unless you add more RAM.
2gb of RAM is recommended for Vista.

ya i agree, its not worth buy a pendrive just to boost your Vista.
pendrive is for store files for an easy transfer.

This rdyboost can help ur system but u cant feel the differences obviously while u have a lot of RAM (2Gb) in ur PC. So, no worry.
