For gaming ah..I think X2 Phenom..But take X3,so that the systems can do other work(1core) while the other core(2core) on gaming.
Take Phenom 8450..But since u using nVidia chipset,better change to AMD Chipset and NONO Asus Cheap-ass mobo

You dont need to put whole processor
Worse to worse,the Thermal paste will spread out from the processor.Just put a dot in the Middle is enough.
