You won't get the actual amount of space from a hard disk
So 297GB is correct

just to double confirm
avoid 7200.11
get 7200.12
Thy are the firmware, right?
*
Those are the models revision
Firmware is totally different
7200.11 is famous for its bickering firmware which is the SD15

i see, is there anyway i could do it in Disk Management? or i must do it in old school way which uses diskpart.exe in ms-dos?

because currently now, i can't find where to remove active from old hdd, i only know how to mark active. my OS is Win7 64bit ultimate.
*
Disk MAnagement has the option to select a particular drive as active or not

eh.. not speed of dl...

i thought bigger cache, can make more buffer so data will not write in so often n make hdd gone faster.
*
Basically its true, but I trust Utorrent's in-built Disk cache management feature so no worries

My 2nd 1 always maxed out at 135MB/sec only....weird

But luckily avg is nearly the same

Not the SSD's JMicron, it's the mainboard southbridge JMicron, might be the reason, no harm to try other ports, best to try Intel chipset ports.
*
Chnaged from SATA5 to SATA 1 and the speed still the same
Oh well....I'll just live with it
At least the avg read and write is still fast

Added on June 23, 2010, 9:27 pmDouble checked again with HD Tune
Both drives around max 135MB/sec
Avg around 110MB/sec and above, means all is well
