well..depends...seagate 500gb 32mb vs wd 640gb 16mb...most review show wd is faster...but seagate burst speed is high...mayb because of the cache? raid0 is just like running ram at dual channel..but if u run at raid 0..its superb fast i can say...

QUOTE(Crazy.SoT.Gila @ Oct 16 2008, 11:41 AM) wd 640aaks is a two platter hdd, which means 320+320gb and its a perpendicular drive...compared to seagate, its only single platter hdd with larger cache...larger cache only comes in play when u copy a really large file for a long time...or geting higher burst speed...i wudnt say review right or wrong at all time, but judging my experience, after tested 2 units, i can feel a slightly beter performance for the wd when installing games... |

QUOTE(mADmAN @ Oct 25 2008, 06:48 PM) they do??? cool... ive only had 1 experience RMAing a WD HDD...and that one i sent to the shop so it came back to me (after about a month) with just an anti static bag....i guess u only get this kinda service if u send back directly to the manufacturer QUOTE(vearn27 @ Oct 26 2008, 03:04 AM) Most probably I guess it is QUOTE(mitodna @ Oct 26 2008, 05:36 AM) actually...dey send back their rma products in a very good packaging so next time u will be able to pack it using the same packaging again without disobeying their rules of rma...if u notice, the rma process for every hdd which is to be sent back, they are all required to be packed and recommended to use their very own packaging when u send it back....guess this is to help both sides..so no accidents might happen during shipping..who noes when u get the rma unit and immidiately canot be used? i m one of them...my rmaed wd 250gb with black cover used less than 1 week and i nid to send back for rma again...its faulty...tats y earlier on i insisted forumers not to get black cover hdd....after i rma again, i got back the silver colour cover.. |

i guess u better try using the ide to usb or sata to usb b4 investing into larger thgs...getting a external case is much more costly den buying those cables alone to test it out
