Hey i have the 1 TB WD Green, is quiet and reliable to be honoest, sometimes if the drive nvr booted quite long it takes long time to copy and paste. But after "warm up" then's reasonable speed. Watch out for a 2 platters(500GB each) 1TB WD Green coming out in a few months time. My model has a 3 platter(333GB each). Less platter less noice and less energy comsuption. Anyway i'm happy with my harddisk just for storage and watching movies.

Oh up too you lo, so far here in Aussie is ok for me. Probably becoz of the cool weather lately. Only problem is the copy and paste so slow, when long time nvr boot up. Btw i'm using it as an external harddisk.

Haha not sure man, i think after 10 mins boot up, the copy and paste works fine. Anyway i'm happy with my HDD, just for storage and watching movies, no need crazy fast spinning speed.
Anyway the new 1Tb is better than the previous one, since 3 platters, or you could wait few months from now for a 2 platters model, should be cheaper i think, coz i bought mine for RM350 was really cheap for me personally.

If it was that easy, you would also know that the Seagate Crapacuda was crap months ago.

Until somebody gathers statistics on thousands of hard disks across a wide variety of users, do the analysis and publish the results, all you will get for asking this question is random luck.

Here's three pieces of advice coming from Google's R&D. One, if a hard disk is good in the first three months, it is likely to be good for most of its expected lifespan. Two, SMART, as it is, does not help much in predicting hard disk failures. Three, hard disk load is not a good predictor in hard disk failure.

You shouldn't replace it if it is unaffected. And if it has already lasted more than three months, then it has passed Google's rule-of-thumb for hard disk reliability, making it is slightly more valuable than a fresh and untested hard disk.

If you intend to use the hard disks for mass storage (audio/video, images) then the Green is a good option because it performs well and is cheaper. If you need the most possible performance from a 1+ TB hard disk (gaming, OS), then you should take the Black.

my concern is...how should i set up d hdd??will it be any problem bcoz of 2 hdd?

i wanted to make my 640gb bcom my primary (C/D/E drive) and 160gb(F/G drive)........

Ya,im using Acronis too...It works very good to me, at least better than partition magic which cant support vista... 

For re-label drive, u dont need Acronis... Juz right click My Computer > Manage > Storage > Disk Management > right click the drive u want to re-lable > Change Drive Letter...

Hi there,just want to ask. Recently my hdd acting weirdly. It is a not so old HDD, lifespan < 6 month (1TB WD Green). The problem is that it will random lockup and I need to remove the SATA cable and power up and the HDD will produce a spinning sound. Then power off and reinsert back the SATA cable and it will boot nicely into the windows. If I did not do the remove sata process it will just loading at the windows XP screen like forever. Any advice beside backup the data(currently slowly doing it)? It is driving me crazy all my data is in this HDD and I want to know what is happening.My old maxtor HD >3 years did not even have this kind of problem.

everybody got their opinion, for me even 1TB is still not enough for the windows... I'm more into the multimedia stuff and it really takes a lot of space besides i kept too many songs inside the hdd too...
