For the size of 1TB, if format entire HDD (not quick format type), surely take a few hours to complete.  sweat.gif

Hmm.... I don't think so.....
First time using quick format with install WinXP is take up to 50min

Within week by week, i become slow and slow via copy, paste document or install software......

And 1 month later.... it totally become like a snail.... -.-"

So I try repair the window.... but resulting failed.... because it will to copy WinXP file into the HDD....

So I use up about 2 hours.. to format....

If as you said..... 1 TB need that much time..... then 2 TB sure need double of the time shocking.gif

For the HDD.... I had warranty for a new unit but haven't use it because I already install 160GB Caviar Blue....

As I gone through few website.... they had stated that Caviar Green have many problem.

First time yes... but second time nope.....
That really trouble if really need that much time....
If in future, there is 10TB.... then i have spent 20hours only for format shakehead.gif

Thank you. To confirm with you that... is this will fasten the speed of formatting HDD?

QUOTE(everling @ Jun 8 2010, 09:22 PM)
They said the performance loss of an unaligned WD10EARS, or any 4K sector HDD, with Windows XP will be about 11% on average. But maybe that is without considering file fragmentation.

Is that mean WinXP will damage WD10EARS HDD?
