And You should get 7200.12 if you are a Seagate fan instead of just keep out of 7200.11 cause 7200.12 just using 2 plate .The performance will be better.

Which is better actually?
Seagate or WD?

It differs between model not just only brand. So there is no universal standard on which brand is actually better.Depends on what your budget and what the usage of it.

Im not pro int diz hard disk stuffs....
*
Ya,there is such thing .In common we call it SATA I,II,III .Got 3 generation.About the speed, just SSD can utilize that much of bandwidth of SATA III. tongue.gif

But what I get with my Samsung 1TB drive is,the drive(if not mistaken)make my system shut down automatically.I thought my drive dead the other days(but it din't).Now very afraid with it and decide to transfer all my important data into my WD or Seagate drive.
But I got 2 Samsung 1TB,so so sad.

alot of comparison between 1TB F3 and WD Caviar Black has been made.

does anyone know the performance comparison between 1.5TB F3 (5400) and WD Caviar Black / Green has been made?

appreciate it as i'm looking at getting a 1.5TB F3..
*
The 1.5TB F3(5400)is for storage purpose IMO.So I go for WD 1.5TB (Green,64MB) around 2 months ago.

SATA 6.0 Gbps isn't that useful anyway. Most HDDs are only just pushing the SATA 1.5 Gbps limit. The only time the 6.0 interface is useful to HDDs is during burst transfers, and they run out of cache buffer pretty quick. Assuming perfect situation, the 64 MB cache will run out in 0.1 second (faster for less optimal situation), and then you're back to the physical limit, which will be close to SATA 1.5 Gbps speeds.
*
Haha, thanks for pointing out the issue. But what disappointed me is that some so called 'high end' things isn't available in Malaysia.

I suggest, for those who buy alot of HDD and don't like external pre-made HDDs (Mybook, story station, etc.) due to the slow HDDs being used inside, get a dock.
Switch your HDD on the fly. thumbup.gif

I dun think it is rational to buy 160GB HDD now.Go for a larger drive, more value for money.

If you are on a higher budget ,go for WD Black(there is a newer version recently?).

I think you get the "advanced format" of 1TB which is not compatible with XP.

Quick format, don't need 50 min.
*
Ya,it is not compatible with Win XP.
