I have both WD 1TB Green & WD 1TB Caviar black.

WD Black have 5 year warranty

WD Green have 3 year warranty

Wondering which one should be the backup drive ?
Not running any raids, as my mobo doesnt have a raid controller build in.
Usually i just do a manual backup via Cobian Backup 9.

Which do you think should be the backup drive ?

I wouldn't recommend you on using green drive if you're a performance freak.

Get a WD 640AAKS also known as WD 640 Blue

Its really fast for your main OS, i would say the rank for OS speed

1. SSD / Raid 0
2. WD Raptor's
3. WD 640 Blue
4. Samsung F1

all based on my opinion smile.gif your can do your research

Don't count on it. It's unlikely to happen. It has never happened as far as I can remember. Better get from LYP.

The thing is Sata speed is the speed of the interface. However all the mainstream HDD can't even hit the 3Gb/s rate as per the Sata 2 spec. The bottleneck is always at the HDD mechanisms. I think even the better mainstreamn 7200rpm HDD can only do less than 200Kb/s (whether burst or sustained) - pls correct me if I am wrong. wink.gif

So IMO all these will not affect mainstream PC users at all. smile.gif I would be more than happy if all my 7200.11 and WDs can hit the Sata 1 150Kb/s rate constantly smile.gif
