can't say how long can it support when connected to pc... many ppl left their external HDD connected to pc everyday... it should not be a problem since its design for mostly laptop user who dont have big HDD space...

Then you cant just rely on hdd, because mechanical stuffs are prone to break down after long usage so you need to do some backup as well.

Seagate and WD are equally reliable.

I concur.
I'd also like to highlight the importance of using a good PSU. If you value your data, avoid those capalang, non true-power PSUs.
I've only had 1 broken HDD so far. It was a 40GB Maxtor, and the PC it was on was running on a cheap iCute PSU.

You buy from AllnGap? Im thinking of getting 1TB hdd from allngap, but which should i buy? Normal or enterprise? just mainly for storage purpose n backup
*
From Allngap, price difference only RM40... get the NS or SV version... this 2 is meant for 24/7 operation... so, supposely better in terms of build quality... tongue.gif

my HD suddently make a loud "glass scratching like" sound for about 10 sec... The comp is hanged at the moment. After the sound stopped, computer started moving again.. Later on problems like PFN list corrupt and suddently reboot , or keep rebooting(fail to enter the window) happen until i shut it down for a moment... and start again... My hd is seagate 200gb barracuda..
Is this the sign of death ?
