I just bought a WD Black 1TB, installed and formatted it already. The hard disk is vibrating quite strongly, I can feel the vibration when I put my hand on my casing, is it normal?

Slight vibration, then yes. Not really strong vibration though.

I wonder if there is any data recovery services in Malaysia? I recently had a faulty harddisk which i suspect the read/write head is damaged.
I called seagate and they told me that any private firm could do a data recovery and I can sent in the hard disk back to seagate no matter if its faulty or not as long the private company that done the data recovery could issue a black and white to Seagate.

So i was just wondering if there's any professional data recovery company that could save my data before i sent in my faulty hdd to Seagate, thanks

Just got myself a Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB SATA (ST31000528AS,32 MB Cache) 3 days ago...surprisingly the temp is quite low, only 41-42C considered no HDD fan + no front intake fan + sandwich between 3 HDD tongue.gif

The linear read throughput is quite good, I think miles ahead WD Caviar Black, but just wondering the reliability. Here the picture.

Hmm, some more it was very quiet during operation, so the noise and temp actually beyond my expectation. thumbup.gif

I like my WB caviar black. Seems to be very silent during the day and night. Not even a single sound or vibration tongue.gif I can sleep in peace. Unlike my other maxtor was making KRAAAKKKK-KRAKKK sounds during the night. Really give me a headache. Now I format the maxtor, it doesn't give me any sounds. laugh.gif Probably it was filled with stuff and I get the blue screen once in a while. Since I change to black, boot up time only takes a minute and I can feel the big difference tongue.gif

If I am not mistaken around 330 tongue.gif Very satisfied with the black
I wanted the green. But the shop told me sold out and black left
So I spend the extra 30 bucks for a black tongue.gif

Are you using screws to hold your HDD and not those filmsy and useless tooless brackets?

I'm using brackets since my CM690 only has them? sweat.gif It only vibrates strongly at certain times though, and I can feel the heat when I put my hand on the casing near the HDD part when it vibrates strongly.

Just bought a WD Caviar Green 1TB. Too early to tell yet.

Black comes with 5 years warranty, extra RM60.

Blue and Green, which is better?

Well, yea, the 1TB Black is quite hot on my side especially with the poor airflow on my case. And for comparison, my 1TB Green is way cooler than the 1TB Black tongue.gif

i just scanned my external harddisk with norton antivirus and found some trojan. it seems to have problems getting rid of it. it says if i delete n restart it will be done but threats are still detected. is dere any other way to resolve than to format the harddisk. dere are too many things inside to be formatted.

I'm new to HDD.. Pardon me for some silly questions.. Is it normal for a 1TB hdd magnetic when i plug sata cable and the power cable? (external but w/o casing).. And, after i plug, my windows can detect the driver but i can't see the driver inside "my computer".. Can anyone tell me what's the problem?

Added on September 2, 2009, 8:29 pmThanks in advance =D
